Why I don't like furaffinity..
This site just ceases to amaze me every time I'm here. Not a day goes by where I'm browsing for something good and artistic... and what do I find? Baby "fur" porn. I mean, really guys? Really? To be honest, this stuff cracks me up (most stuff on this site does) but man, I was looking at someone's gallery today and I just had to comment.
I am a lover of all arts, which is why I join these different sites, because good art comes in all shapes and differences, but baby fur porn? honestly guys, I don't even consider it to be true art. You can't sit there and tell me you're looking at two baby furs fucking each other's assholes for it's artistic quality and vision (since most look like they've been drawn by someone with a 4th grade art level.) I mean, if that's what you're really into, who am I to stop you? Some enjoy 30's style pinup women... other's obviously enjoy animal pedophilia. Just don't sit there and call it "good art," because it's really not. There's no way to really justify that.
I really just had to share that bit of two cents with you lovely people... I've been laughing about it since.

PS I'm noting you right now :>
the appeal to it in anyway.
comment. Ive seen great artists open an account on here purely to sell porn, whereas they
have accounts on deviantart or other communities for critiques and showcasing their finest.
There are great artists on here who do strive to get better but they are constantly dumped on
by the former.
I still stand by the argument that just becuase they draw it doesn't mean they *do* it. If I draw my character gore, does that mean I go out and intentionally cut people up for the sake of sexual satisfaction? Of course not. If I draw beastiality, does that mean I fuck animals or my dog or something? HELL NO.
Art is about fantasy. Fantasy doesn't have to be a positive thing, though it is more often then not though of as a positive thing. Art is about expressing thoughts, emotions, messages, etc. Maybe art is the way some people have to be able to curb those thoughts and it keeps them from acting upon them. Then again, if someone is motivated enough, they're going to do what they're going to do. But either way, one could argue that point.
I just think it's very selfish and assholish to say "THIS DOESN'T COUNT AS ART BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE DON'T LIKE IT AND IT GOES AGAINST MY CULTURAL NORMS AN BELIEFS, THEREFOR IT SHOULDN'T BE ON A WEBSITE THAT REVOLVES AROUND A SUBJECT MATTER THAT ALREADY GOES AGAINST MOST PEOPLE'S TASTE AND CULTURAL NORMS".
Just my two cents.
"Art is the process or product of deliberately arranging elements in a way to affect the senses or emotions."
You have the right to like a piece of art or not like a piece of art. You can't judge if it's good or bad, that opinion.
I like your way of describing it. Way more eloquent than childish phrasing. :P
Furries crack me up to no end... And I suppose you're the perfect example of mature phrasing, with your usage of :P :DD _0 and :___:
You absolutely should have an opinion about art and whether you like or dislike the art, but that does not mean your opinion is the end-all-be-all. I dislike a good amount of art, but I also don't make a big deal about the art I dislike. If someone asks, I'll mention it. But that's it.
It takes a bit of effort to hate something, and it takes even more effort to argue why you hate something. It seems weird that you put so much effort forth in talking about how much you dislike babyfurs.
The reason I put forth my effort on these comments is very simple. All I'm asking is that you have an open mind and an open respect to other people's beliefs and ideas. Whether you like it or dislike, agree with it...it doesn't matter. If you don't like it, don't look at it, ignore it, get off the computer.
i would love to LOL and Murr it up with you lovely furries all day, but I could just care less.
I don't dislike what you're saying (actually I don't feel either way about what you say), but I still want to put forth my argument. That's how these debates work.
It's great to see another person who believes in "I don't care for it, but I have no place to tell people what they can/can't make art of and what they can/can't like.", stay awesome!
To put the idea further, why not say that if a piece contained the colour yellow it was not art? That if so much as one single spec of yellow was on a piece, it would thus no longer be classified as 'art', or 'good art', it's the same idea only put on a childish level.
I mean I understand everyone has their own opinions, but still, art is art, there will be art you like, there will be art you don't like, rather it was done poorly or extraordinarily matters not, but to classify something as 'not art' because it doesn't fit your ideals?
And yeah, I don't know why the baby fur topic has been coming up a lot lately. I've noticed that, too.
I don't like peas. Does that mean peas don't count as good food? This logic seems to go for everything :P
I'm not saying it's right, but it's also something humans have been doing since they've had the ability to.
I'm not going to argue about this ridiculous subject, I wrote this journal to simply express what I saw the other day, and it made me chuckle. So If you and other furries want to keep commenting me back defending this, be my guest, and keep um' coming. I just don't care enough to read and or comment back. I'm off to the real world now.
You cared enough to make the post in the first place. Might want to think next time if it's worth bringing up a subject if other people are going to challenge your beliefs and you get frustrated because of it.
I never once saw you force your opinion on anyone. God forbid should you write a journal about something you dislike. You never said others couldn't enjoy it, either, just that YOU personally didn't like it.
Again, I agree with you.
*flops*
If ya know what I mean partner!
Yeah, there is a reason I don't link this account with any other of my illustration sites just in case future clients decide to go snooping off my profile page... It's also why I'm not as active on here as I am on dA. Even with the mature filter on, I seem to find stuff that's not to my liking, which is okay, because I've adjusted the way I use this site so I don't have to worry about seeing it (you know, the whole, if you don't like it, don't look at it thing...). I don't browse here. I just follow people I've known from other sites, and maybe the odd few others that I've come across through people whose work I've seen before because unfortunately, some people have gotten mad at dA and have stopped posting there so I can only see their art here.
I guess people have the right to post whatever they want, but I can't help but link baby fur porn to child pornography and all that jazz. I'm not saying people who are into this stuff necessarily look at actual human babies and get ideas or anything... there's just something about it that feels very, very wrong. Out of all the things out there, it is the only fetish (or whatever it's called) that I really don't even want to bother understanding, this stuff definitely doesn't seem to be drawn for art's sake (like you said, probably drawing this stuff just to get off).
I mean, people complain about being called furries or whatever and are tired of how people not in the 'fandom' treat them, but seriously... seems like they're asking for it ._.;
/ramble
I know exactly what you mean about coming over here because of people leaving DA, it is a real shame... DA's a great art site, in my opinion.
And yes, people do have a right to do what they want, they just fail to understand that I don't view what thy're doing as being "right." A lot of the art on here (be it baby furs or whatever else) I consider to be a very amature, and immature art style... and an immature way to try and say you're an "artist," because I no damn well they're not creating these pieces to uphold the true meaning of art... and if they think what they're doing really is doing that, then I pitty and feel bad for them.
And I also agree 200% about how defensive these furrs get. They are indeed putting themselves out there, and need to understand that if you're going to have this fandom as your lifestyle and partake in these rituals and behaviours, you need to be ready to hear the worst, because you ARE putting your self out there.
:)
And yeah, dA is definitely the better site because you have everything there. Not just furry/animal art, but all sorts of inspiring illustrations of all genres. Art for art's sake. Seems like people think more outside the box on dA (well. for the most part, there's still a deep dark side of dA with unoriginal stuff/traces and also some creepy stuff, but eh)
But yes, totally agree with you there too. :3
