*spoiler alert* my review of "the passing" on Left 4 Dead 2
15 years ago
ok so my computer stopped committing suicide long enough for me to play the new campaign for L4D2 called "The Passing" and i gotta say it was both exciting and slightly unimpressive. it got more hype than it was worth honestly, still fun but meh.
ok on to the review.
it starts off with a zoom in on 3 of the original survivors from L4D1 Francis, Zoe, and Louis (wonder where Bill is?!?) standing on a tower overlooking a raised bridge
the camera pans down from them to the 4 survivors from l4d2 (Ellis, Rochelle, Nick, and Coach) standing next to jimmy Gibbs' car which has been stopped by a raised bridge, now the original survivors didn't talk to me at all but most times the l4d2 survivors will ask them to lower the bridge and they'll tell you there's no power to and you'll have to come around and power up the generator, so next you fight your way through some apartment buildings and eventually come to a zombie wedding (yes a wedding with zombies in suits, tux's and a witch bride), then more apartments, so you get to the safe house and pick up more weapons, ammo, and health kits.
next chapter is harder to explain but most of it is in some sort of building, you go down through the building and reach a flooded area, you climb out of the water through an almost pitch black pit and have to open up a series of gates, all of which draw hordes of zombies, you are instructed by the game to keep running, so you run through the horde into some pitch black tunnels and eventually find another safe room.
the next and final chapter is on the other side of the tower so and you have to collect 10 fuel canisters to power the generator while the 3 original survivors help you by shooting at oncoming zombies, you ride down an elevator from the lower end of the tower onto the streets, (if you look closely inside a building you will see bill's hunched over and bloody body lying against part of the generator) the entire point of this chapter is to search for canisters of fuel and bring the to the generator to power it while a nonstop horde of zombies runs at you trying to kill you, i encountered several of each type of special infected in this level except the witch. once you power up the generator the bridge will lower and you have to run across back to jimmy Gibbs' car and drive off.
THE END
now i had fun playing this level even though it was incredibly short (took me exactly one hour according to the game). i do wish the original survivors would have had more to do with the campaign or at least have had some comment on Bill's death. but overall it was enjoyable and i will defiantly play it again online.
