I would have to say yes. It closes the door on anything sexual but leave it open for conversation. It was polite if not modest and you were up front and truthfull. Hopefully The mere fact that his missed connection made it to you will give him confidence in that the world is an okay place for putting one self out there.

you assumed he was asking about a relationship when he said that he "just wanted to say thanks", but i guess the personals > missed connections section assumes that

while i don't think it was intended, saying you feel bad for being taken suggests a lack of complacency/loyalty to your current relationship, he may advance

lol no worries its a common mistake. Alot of the time when he talks to anyone i assume disloyalty and then missing persons reports go out >_< the law works so fast.
