Forty Days of Sobriety...

It's not that bad, actually. I've noticed that I have more money at my disposal these days. Not a whole lot. But I'm functioning, I'm employed, the bills are getting paid, food is in the fridge and the cupboards, and I'm getting acceptable, if not quite adequate, amounts of sleep.
Then there are the dreams. I've been getting a flood of dreams lately. Great ones, nightmares, and nearly everything in between. Even when I take an afternoon nap in hot and humid weather, such as today, I'm getting pretty vivid dreams. Or at least, I'm remembering having them when I wake up, if not much of their contents later on. It's as if I'm making up for years of lost time in the dream department.
Does alcohol inhibit dreams? I know it can screw with your ability to sleep, before and after you try to quit drinking. I certainly wasn't sleeping or dreaming well a few months ago, but I was drinking like a damned fool. Whatever the case, I'm taking all this dreaming as a good sign. Sleep is how our bodies recuperate after a long day, and on most days, I wake up in reasonably good condition.
Beats the hell out of waking up hungover and feeling like shit...

Congrats on getting this far. I'm glad you are in a better financial situation, and you're getting/remembering dreams. I don't have any dreams... oddly enough. I wish I did, for I'm sure they'd be beautiful.

Kudos to you for going 40 days sober! That must've take alot of willpower to do, eh?

Hmmmm.... I wonder if anyone has thought of doing a study regarding whether alcohol either inhibits dreams or reduces the likelihood of remembering them afterwards. I suspect the latter.
