End of an Era

Tonight the local PBS station aired the final episode of their long running political discussion, Bill Moyer's Journal. For those who aren't political or don't pay much attention to PBS, Bill Moyers is one of the few remaining truly independent journalists in broadcast news who, while having an obvious liberal bias, was not afraid to stick it to the left in politics when they played dirty or to point out hypocrisy. What truly set him apart though was he didn't just blatantly toss out opinions and seek to aggravate solely for ratings, he actually researched the topics, provided documents and clear fact to support what he would argue, and never tried to hide his bias. He also would invite guests from both sides of the table and rather then try to argue with or attack any he disagreed with, he'd listen to them and ask relevant and inciteful questions when appropriate. Even when being attacked by those wanting to discredit him, like Bill O'Reilly, he remained cool and respectful. His is a breed that will be missed in broadcast news, and I do wish him a long and happy retirement.

OK now I have to take all of that back, since I do support the NSDAP and the furzis (nazi furs who dont know.) I do agree with you that the number of independent journalists are few and far between. So that really only makes Cspan and I believe Democracy Now to be unbiased, but I'm fairly liberal.
