Have a hug first *hugs*
And remember:
The examiner doesn't have a quota for passes and fails, if your driving is up to scratch, you will pass.
Passing and failing is entirely at the examiner's discretion. Don't worry about it if you have a little hiccup in the middle of the test, let them be the judge of whether you pass or fail.
Your instructor wouldn't have let you go for your test if they didn't think you were ready. Be confident in your ability, and relax into it.
Good luck!
I swear, half the test is getting someone you feel comfortable with. You can ask the examiner to take a few minutes at the start of your test to compose yourself, chat with him/her about things, your life and whatever, or just anything, if you're more comfortable with him/her, everything will feel easier.
Me and Tester: *gets out of car*
Mom: So how did he do?
Tester: He failed.
Mom: *looks wide eyed*
Me: But I didn't know the tree was going to be there!
Mom: *Jaw drops*
Tester: Don't worry he was perfect
^_^
Then again I failed every mock test I took, failed my driving test twice (both times on parallel parking because I nudged the kerb, didnt mount it, just touched it) and both times I had the same examiner. 3rd time I had a differant examiner and passed with only 1 minor for "undue hesitation" at a roundabout. So a lot of it is which examiner you get.
Passing the driving test, I think, was the hardest thing Ive ever done. And I said Id never do another one again. Funnily enough, saying that, Ive now got another 3 driving tests coming up to drive SJA ambulances, one for ambulance, one for patient transport minibuses and one for blue light driving
But yeah, it is hard, there are stupid niggly little things they can (and will!) fail you on.
Best advice I can give is:
-Make sure you go over the highway code again the night before, because theyll ask you random questions from it during the test,
-Make sure you know everything about the car youre taking your test in, because theyll ask you random things about it like "wheres the power steering reservoir and how do you check it?"
-Try not to panic too much (its impossible not to panic! so dont worry if you do)
-Take it slow and steady, stick about 5mph under the speed limit, youll feel a lot calmer if youre moving slower, but dont go too slow or theyll fail you on that!
-drink plenty of water before your test, water keeps you refreshed, hydrated and alert. But dont forget to pee before your test!
Youre lucky, taunton is nice and easy to drive around :P I had to do my test in Camborne, which is an absolute nightmare to drive round, its a maze of one way systems and horrible main roads that merge into double roundabouts
They ask you questions about the highway code on your test?!?!?! O_o my driving instructor didnt say anything about that.... he just asks me where stuff is and how I check it... and I now know all the engine stuff (brake fluid and things) backwards XD (not literally!)
Damn cyclists, they ruin everything. If you dont pay road tax, get off my damn road!
