Trying to get a bit more exercise here.....

For me, I have noticed that the walking that I from time to time do seems to as far as I know not do too much for me as even say, walking a few miles, or so, it doesn't feel like it does much, let alone get my pulse and heart pumping faster.
Needless to say, yesterday, my dad had forgotten a muffin that he microwaved (Part of a Jenny Craig Diet he is on). For me, I thought it to be a perfect excuse to get my bike out and try riding over to the place to deliver it. Technically, it is not that far at all, probably under a mile, maybe 1/2 mile tops distance wise I am guessing. I could be wrong.
But needless to say, biking is FAR more intense then simple walking. When I got to the "Bend" in the L of the Path I was to take, my heart was beating like crazy. I needed one or two times in between. The thing is, I had hoped to get it there still warm.
Of course, Murphy's Law kicked in and when I got there, my dad was not there. Luckily one of the friends of his that he sees was. It seems he had left around 5-10 minutes before I had arrived. So, needless to say, it was somewhat a wasted trip.
Anywho, needless to say, I will be trying to get some more biking in each day in the morning.
Not so much a set time or distance, but rather going to a point of medium discomfort before heading back home. That way, it gets my heart beating fast, but doesn't make me overdo it like I think I did yesterday.
For where I live, our street has three culdesac thinigies so today, I managed to go inside the first and second one before heading home without stopping.
I hope that by doing this a bit each day, it can strengthen my heart to have more endurance and whatnot, not to mention I am sure it will be good for my health overall.
I am curious though, are there things I should be wary of doing?
I mean, for me, I did it a bit after waking up and having done...... a different shall we say "Arm strengthening" exercise. >_>
I hadn't eaten anything and not really even having had anything to drink.
Should I before doing the biking thing no matter how little, make sure I at least have some fluid in me?
Any tips one can give would be good. ^_^
Thanks for reading if you read it. ^_^

Yeah, you definitly need to eat like at least an energy bar, and bring along a thing of water. you dont need to over-do your body without water. you dont want to de-hydrate yourself, and if you eat before you walk or exersize, your body will have something to work on and not just store all of those extra calories when you eat later. hope i helped!
