Clash of the Titans awesome political fuck-up in film

Clash of the Titans - Mix and mash of lore and mythology to begin with. The old one was a fan service film made by Harryhausen and Davis. Djinn were introduced into the new storyline... The one muslim monster in this film goes suicide bomber on Medusa... Epic Win even if he didn't succeed.
All in all, I liked it. The old one didn't follow traditional storyline either so you can't honestly bash this one for doing the same. They were both made as excuses to show off special effects prowess, even Harryhausen himself admitted it. So nyeh.
Sam Worthington is yet again, really forgettable as a lead role. His acting was a better portrayal of the dead bark than the Djinn were supposed to be made of. That being said, I loved their design and the suit actor was great. Medusa was a bit of a let down to be perfectly honest, she fell prey to substandard cg where many others had excelled. The scorpions were alright, nothing truly special but the audio visual cues of the tail strikes combined with the soundtrack were great. No slapping epic shit over a scene the music was truly crafted for the piece. Calibos fucking owned hard... He fucking ripped someone in half... crushed someone's head in their helmet, he rocked so damn hard. His prosthetics were truly original and well done, his split baked skin being used for the horns was genius, his claw hand melting together was pretty damn good. All in all, the actual effects were outstanding. The attention to detail in the throne room of Olympus was staggering. Seeing Hades' cape flowing over the landscape shown beneath his feet, through rivers and over mountains and through the clouds was astounding. All in all, I loved this movie as a prop to RPG's of old. Character introductions were meted out in similar fashion, weapon pickups and plot delivery. This is by no means a true A-list film but for sheer fan service I liked it. I was and always will be a fan of the old. I have almost every Harryhausen film released on vhs, and I still applaud this one for sheer manliness.
