Personally I think the admins and owners are a bunch of douche-bags who contradict their own rules all the time. Not only that but they do nothing to prevent or help those who have had art theft against them. The atmosphere seems chaotic at best while the "grade" of overall submissions have seemed to degrade drastically since the changing of the guard so to speak. It was better when the original owner was there and DA wasn't about making money.

I'll just say, for the record, that I was totally on team Jark during all that, and I do agree that Spyed sort of fucked everything up.

Because I dare you to find a single page on there that doesn't fanatically scream at you to buy a subscription at least twice. I just *love* how it says "NEEDS A SUBSCRIPTION" at the top of my page. I love how it's in my face when I go to submit something. I love how it's in my face no matter where I go. It's so bad that while I may consider buying one otherwise, there's no way I would now. It's corporate greed to such an extreme that I believe it will soon collapse in on itself, considering every time I go on there it's somehow worse.

That's why I hate it. :)

It's not for porn at all. It's sort of the original website for user-created art galleries.

I was being a bit facetious there, I have heard of it here and there, but the understanding of the site meant i never had any gumption to go there.

I actually stopped visiting because I was getting malware from it. Not viruses, but malware that was trying to get me to download a virus.

I've never had that issue, and I find it hard to believe that a site as huge as it is would do something like that, honestly.

It never came from them honestly though. It would come through the ads. The ads put the malware on your computer, when they are loaded. I realize there are ad blockers, but ads bring in revenue to sites that you enjoy, so I tend to keep them and just ignore them.

It's happened to me the three times I went on there, the most recent still on my computer, under control. Of course, it only affects pc's, so going on a mac or iphone is safe.

Yeah my husband got that more than once on your computer. Interestingly enough if you have a subscription it blocks it...

DA does eem to be having a problem with that lately. It's being done by 3rd party advertisers violating DA's advertising rules. I won't go to DA on an unprotected computer because of it.

Same here, I've gotten malware a few times. The most recent time completely crashed my computer, so now I have to buy a new one or reformat the old one.

I've seen hate on it for a variety of reasons:
-The admins and mods are hacks, who constantly play hypocrites for people that pay for subscriptions or art they like (that still goes against the rules)
-They allowed tracing under some messed up definition
-*The site is impersonal, feels cold, exposure is limited thanks to the upgrading on the front page. If you weren't at all known prior you're going to have a hell of a time getting known now.
-Ads contain viruses. I'm not sure why all my friends are too stupid to use No-Script or Adblock

I still use it, I'm not going to actively hate on it. I see what's "wrong" with the site but I also see how it could possibly be an okay way to showcase art in places where FA would be completely unacceptable... which is a lot. Granted, there are probably better sites for this but I don't really know them. And I had fun while I was more actively using the site. Ain't no problem with that.

The admins are mostly idiots; I will give you that. But it does seem to be not just case by case, but even gallery by gallery. The literature team are pretty awesome. The photography team are a bunch elitist cunts.


As for the not known at all prior, I have to sort of disagree. I started up a lit account there last year, and within two days of joining, I had a DD on one of the things I'd uploaded. I recently started up a photography account over there as well, and wound up on the front page with two of my pieces. Popular pieces are popular for a reason, but on a site with literally millions of users, it is kind of hard to get seen (I say this not to sound like a pretentious twat, but rather to prove a point).

My point is that AFTER they changed up the front page it was harder to get seen. The exposure you got with the way they had it set up was somehow more than what they have now. I don't know why, maybe it is because the userbase has grown so massively.
But maybe it's because a lot of users have their front page set to "popular." I don't know that either.

I've just never really liked the community there. It's always come off far more of a hugbox/drama centre than FA has for me. Though I guess I can give it another chance and open a gallery of my other works there and branch out. :/

I'm one of those people who have been with DA for quite a while and migrated from Side7. it feels a lot more lonesome than it used to feel, in which was a nicer 'community' feel to it

Then the chat got introduced, and now the forums suck. Only, I can't rutting stand chat rooms, so I'm just sort of lost.

I used to like dA, but coming to FA seemed like finding a better version of the same thing. I don't hate it, but I don't frequent it nearly as much as I do FA.

Their site/ads contain virii, they need to do a better job of going through ads and making sure computers are safe.

Have noticed a serious lack help where thefts occur. They seemingly only reply once you shame the submitter in to deleting the files himself.

I actually get SOME people to look at what I submit here on FA. I think in the almost 3 years of having my DA, I have 15 watchers? =/ screw that, got over 200 here, and have made many awesome friends to boot.

So why really bother with DA? ^_^

I, for one, love DA!
First up, stories get formatted into nice, proper paragraphs, complete with indention and proper spacing. Also, illustrations can be uploaded along with any story and they appear in a reasonably viewable size. Plus, you don't have to download them to read them properly.

I have a subscription; I don't see ANY ads. So I don't know what to say about viruses and what have you.

Come on, so DA isn't all about Furry Porn. That's why we come here! FA is a place for people with different interests to share their common fascination with Anthro Art. DA isn't that sort of place. It just isn't.

As a writer, I find DA is of more use to me and my work.
As a furry, I find FA is more sociable.
That's just the way it is folks. Don't be a hater; just do what's best for you.

FA just has more amusing drama and better porn.

I don't hate dA but I don't like it. The admins ignored my reports, banned my friend for bring a furry, kids often leave the site that's annoying. But my friends... =/

I do know that I liked their older interface, the one that FA copied from originally.

That and the majority of people I watched moved to FA.

I don't really HATE the site, I just...don't like it much.
First off, it runs extremely slow on my computers. And it's hard for me to navigate the damn thing.
Second, it's harder to actually get noticed on DA.
But the main reason I prefer FA is that it is a specialized art site that is ONLY for anthro art, so I feel a little more at home.
