I'm a Game Tester now!
Okay, a lot has happened over the last week or so. First, my car broke down. Sprung a pretty bad leak in the brake line or whatever. I can't afford to fix it even with my wal-mart paycheck coming this thursday.
In a panic, I start applying for jobs within walking distance. I knew I was screwed, and that I had to pick up something, anything, as quickly as possible, or else I was financially boned.
One of the things I applied for, and actually the thing I put most effort into, was a couple of game tester positions listed on Volt.com. Yesterday morning, I applied. Within a few hours, I got a response, filled out a questionnaire, and got myself an orientation for 3pm the very same day! I start my first day today.
And not just effort. I put some risk into it too. I had $27 left to my name, and I spent most of it on a skype subscription and a skype online phone number, so I had a phone number they could call me at that wasn't disabled.
Now that I have a replacement job, 5 miles away from where I live, I can call wal-mart and tell them that I won't be able to work for them anymore. I would've preferred to give a notice, but reality left me no choice in the matter.
Several very stressful days of worry, and now things are really looking up for me. To be honest, I was suffering at wal-mart. I wanted out badly. My car breaking down like that put me in a position where it was all or nothing, and I lucked out. I finally escaped from that place. I think this is the first step towards something better.
Plus, I get to play Xbox 360 games that aren't even out yet. You guys must be so jealous. It's temporary though. On a project-by-project basis. This project will last up to seven months.
Sorry, I won't be able to tell you anything about the game. Confidentiality agreement and all. :P
