A healthy little rant
The internet's an odd place. There's so much drama in a place where we're all supposed to be having fun. It's like a little soap opera of 'he said, she said' and the like. With all the hate we generate from outside the community, the hate within is often well hidden, but sharp and biting.
I've noticed I seem to generate a lot of drama around me. I try my best to avoid such drama, but I suppose with what I play, that's impossible. So, HT told me I should post a journal explaining myself. Worth a shot.
First off, lemme talk about Vox. What he is. He was originally a black cat anthro. The name came from a character from the old game 'Loaded' for PS1. She was a female DJ who killed people with soundwaves. The fox-taur idea came when I saw this picture http://www.chakatsden.com/chakat/Images/alle.jpg I just fell in love with that personality, that confidence. I was very shy at the time. I wanted that to be my character. Confident, sexy, arrogant, vain, kind of a handsome, slightly villonous predator obsessed with beauty, inspired heavily by Vega from Street Fighter. Oh what a long way I've come.
For a while, Vox was that. I mean, the whole 'god of a world' only came up about a year ago. Around the time of the VOCT. Coincidence? No. The tournament scared me and I became afraid of what would happen if someone took Ploro's soul. It really, REALLY got to me. I mean, I knew it was just a non cannon story, but such cool entries made me feel weak and a little usless. So I decided I was going to do two things. I was going to start writing and I was going to make Vox powerful.
Beforehand, I just had attacks bounce off fact for no reason. He just wasn't there for combat. I gave him a story. I made him the spirit of a world. Gave me a reason he's so strong, a way to protect the souls of my prey chars and a setting for my stories. I figured people might be a little pissed before an explanation. All he can do is control his own reality. He can shift his body and warp himself, but no one else. Yeah, it's overpowered, but he's a pure pred who only fights those who I talk to before the rp, so they know what the outcome will be.
Now, onto Vox's fatal, soul-digesting ways. Yeah, he does that. He also does completely non fatal vore for people like Tris, HT, Arl, Oni, really whoever wants it. Before each rp, I discuss in PMs how the rp will go, unless I know the person very well. I do this as both pred and prey for two reasons. As prey, it's because I'm touchy. I only like non fatal vore. As pred I do both, but only non fatal when prey, oddly enough. If I don't discuss the rp, people might not have read the prefs and as my friends will tell you, if Ploro's hurt, I'm never terribly fond of it. As for with Vox, I don't want to violate anyone's prefs. If you see Vox gobbling someone and digesting their soul, that person wanted it to happen. After all, in an rp, it's not just the pred in control, and I'm willing to do either.
Some people say I'm too strict with my prefs. I believe that everyone should be strict witht heir prefs. I mean, yes there should be give and take sometimes, but no one should ever have to do something they're very uncomfortable with. I only forgot to ask prefs once in my memory and it was a bad experience that I deeply regret. I was pred and forgot someone didn't like soul vore. I deeply regret that incident, because I know what it's like to have prefs stepped on and wouldn't want to do it to someone else.
In the end, it's not my intention to make anyone uncomfortable. I'm of the belief that if you don't like what someone's doing, don't look at it. No one's forcing it on you. You wanna make your char a spirit of a world too, or even a god? Go for it. I can't promise I'll rp with them, but it's your char and your right to do as you want. In the end, I think that the vore community is small enough and we don't need to be divided by anger at how someone else rps or disgust at someone else's kink. If you don't like rps, don't watch. If you don't like art or stories, don't look. We're all adults here (or at least, we should be). Let's act like it. One shifted bit of matter during brain development and your kink might have been something completely different. Let's respect each other and above all, have fun. Have fun with your rp partner. It's like a dance. as long as you both are having fun, it's worth the funny looks.
Peace and love, Vox's Posse.

In all seriousness, methinks a lot of people care way too much about this sort of thing. Yeah, everyones different and thinks about things differently. But in the end, what we're talking about here is having a fantasy text-based roleplay scene between two individuals, and nothing that happens in the scene ACTUALLY HAPPENS. yet people will flip out if something is done to their character. Yeah, I get that you care about a character, but sometimes people need to know when to step back and get their priorities straight.
tl;dr : EVERYONE NEEDS TO CHILL THE FUCK OUT.
You'd better be feeling a little more chipper after flushing that animosity and anger from your system. :3
I have seen you slip up in the past before, resulting in a few times when people genuinely had reasons to be upset, but nobody is perfect. Folks just dont seem to know how to live and let things be. Your a nice fella. Its all that really matters. We are a small community supporting an obscure fetish which the rest of the world views as rather insane. We cant afford to go and hate each other.
some of the things VOCT has caused... I swear... I will never be able to comprehend it all XD
