I learned from Facebook wall posts of all places that one of my cousins committed suicide while I was away. He was two years older than me, and a big influence when we were young. (A motorcycle racing legend from a young age, and all around cool guy.)

That side of my family is HUGE, and many members are once again calling out "family curse".

A very disproportionate number of family members have died at a fairly young age, many from suicides, sudden fatal illnesses, and freak accidents (the kind of stuff that a Final Destination movie would make up.)

I don't know if I believe in a curse, but it's really difficult to grasp.

Suicides are always a shock, leaving you asking "why" until your head spins, a question that can't be answered. Only he knew his reasons for sure. But he knew his entire life, as did I, the effects left behind.
