It's been thunderstorming every night for the past five or six days here, and leaving the window open to watch the skies light up and the rain pour down and the thunder crashing is really one of my favorite parts of summer. If I didn't know better I think I must be part Thunderbird. *smiles and coughs*
The main news, though, is that I caught a sore throat from the youth pastor at our church and it hit me hard just this morning, so the planned uploads I promised ya'll are going to have to be postponed until I get well enough to make it to campus. >_<

i was soooo worried!!!
*hugs* if i could.. i'd make you a pot of my maw's medicine (it's a type of speghetti and chicken broths)
*hugs* i wish i could see ya... murrr
btw.. in pronouncian... it's -not- "ah-caid-i-an" (the normal way people say it) it's "les cadain" or "les acadain" pronounced "leh kah'd-ya"... hence... i'm a cajun :) since to american standards, kah'd-ya sounds like cajun... well... to english >..> not so much a cajun...
btw... somehow i seem to get the feeling someone will actaully ask me if i'm creole... the answer? no. i'm not. i'm cajun, an acadian. the difference is the same as a britsh vs american language... or a spainard, a mexican, a cuban, latino.
french is the root. led to acadian and it's forced exodus (by canadians? >..>) which is where in de louisianne (Louisiana) we settled about little over 300 or so years ago. as we absorbed a more american culture.. that became creole.
my family is not actually that new... we retained our full heritage, hence we are acadian, instead of creole :) my ma-mou (grandmother) is a full blooded acadian, direct family line from one of the, then, larger recognised families. rescent years is known by louque ("luke")
:) loves ya.. true, i dont know a bunch of true french words or grammer.. but that is normal for modern cajuns...
but... "laissez bons temps rouler!!" when a culture is relocated.. and absorbed into another.. over ESPECIALLY 300 plus years... you can only hold on to what you can.. so.. "let the good times roll!!" and just try to keep up :)
acadian culture is deep and rich... but is rather small to start with :(
(now you know why my very favorite food is... dey mudbugs :) gimme a 80 pound bag o crawdads en gimme some descent spices.. en we gunna has a nice good getn ta gether wid teh kin :) good ol times :)
gtg... :(
