Why I do what I do.

GOODBYE, FAREWELL, OH WAIT WE JUST MET I AM SO SORRY.
Let me tell you a little about myself...
I am a huge fan of Walt Disney (the man, as well as the company). One of the things he said is, "We don’t make movies to make money, we make money to make more movies."
That's how it is for me, I make money so that I can make art. I currently am fortunate to have a job in a state and economy where the low end jobs are getting filled not by college students, but 40+ year olds from the labor industry forced to work 2 or 3 jobs and needing health insurance for their families. I don't make much, but I make enough to get by. I currently do not need more money, although I would want it, I do not need.
And in all honesty, I am doing this bit of free to get my name out there for when I need to turn a profit. Currently I have less than 50 watchers, so I know any attempt at making any consistent earnings would be a moot point.
At some point, the bugeyes will not be free (prolly by the point that I have 25+ of these kiddies in the oven, and I can't keep up with the requests). But for now, they are my little gift to the fandom. And honestly, I have never had as much joy and mirth at getting this kind of work done. I don't need a couple bucks to give me that little incentive to get them done, I actually REALLY love doing them.
This particular journal is because I wanted to dissuade anyone from thinking that they are depriving a starving artist of his vittles. I have about 15 extra pounds on my body attesting to the fact that I do not need to worry about my stomach. What I do worry about is whether or not I can keep up with the workload, and for now, I can. And I can still work at that other job. Which, let me tell ya, is pretty awesome because recently I've been zooming around on a forklift. <3

FA+

Wow. x3 Well I'm glad to hear that the financial status is stable, and that you can still find time to do these awesome icons for people. ^^ Its really awesome. Also, free art is the best way to advertise for watchers if you ask me. XD
Good luck with finishing all of these icons. :3 I can tell just by looking at the requests they're popular... and by word of mouth ["Dude, that icon is awesome! Where'd you get it!?"] they might just be the next big thing for icons on FA. X3 Take care!
Thanks for the luck wishing, I seem to be able to keep on top of these since my illustrator skillz be pretty tight. On average, 1 hour of work is spent currently per icon, and that is mostly because of the props or details. And communicating with the "client".
Oof, if those things become that big... :B I need to set a closing date for when these aren't free no more. Currently, 4 requests per 12 hours, +6 watchers each 12 hours... alskdjfdklfj And if this is a bell curve fuuuuu----
Eh, I'm having fun that's what counts. ^w^
