Do you remember what you were doing?

Ok, that probably ages me a bit!
Fortunately for me, the first eruption was blown east. I remember we heard something, but didn't know what it was until the radio announced it had erupted. So we drove down the valley to see if we could see anything.
Oh we could see it alright! It was pretty cool seeing the huge plume of ash flowing out of the mountain! I remember thinking it looked like the pictures of nuclear bombs exploding I had seen.
I wish I had pictures, but it looked like the ones you can find online.
My idiot (half) brother and his friends snuck in to the restricted zone the next year on their dirt bikes. They rode all the way to Spirit Lake, or where it used to be anyway.
I didn't make it up there until the summer after I graduated high school. I spent most of a week camping in my truck and exploring around there.
Ah, more memories which are only vaguely important to even me.

Speaking of humans, I have to admit can be troublesome, but they are much more fun to vex than my fellow PĂșca.
