The thought has occurred to me before, in several forms. Being a general science nerd, I've pondered how an animal species and a plant species could, um... help each other reproduce. Thing is, that left me with a question:

How would the anatomy of the flower work? I haven't quite come up with an answer yet.

and I guess it would look something like the flowers I mentioned above. All like, the perfect shape for some random person to stick their penis in. Or those little holes in random trees. Maybe some very tall mushrooms for girls XD

unfortunately and thankfully at the same time, this will most likely not happen through evolution XD

I know. And what I had in mind initially was a plant that gets pollinated by both sexes, while acting as a reservoir for the male's semen - later given to the female... um... eww.

I did, however, think of a mechanism where the plant can make the animal do double duty:

1. Plant seduces male animals into pollinating the flowers.
2. When flowers go to fruit, they are irresistible to hungry females. The fruit is something fleshy with seeds that can survive passage through the animal's gut.
3. Put a factor in the fruit that a. puts the females into sexual receptivity, regardless of the stage of their fertility cycle/pregnancy; and b. at the same time makes them smell a bit like the flower.
4. By conditioning, males come to associate the flower's smell with sex, then start cavorting in the garden, and get pollen all over themselves...

I've always enjoyed fairly hard sci-fi. I've probably outlined the basics of the plant's interaction with the animal enough to where it could be used in a story!

well the fandom is pretty defined in sci-fi, plus I love it, too 8D
But i havent dabbled in it too much, outside of very unlikely animal hybrids.

Man, Plant, and Woman... believe it or not, this could work out quite peacefully. The male really gets the hard end of the bargain, but he may not care. Females get frisky when the plants bear fruit, and the flowers are useful when she's not interested?

I've never had sex with them, but if you're up for a little interesting foreplay, using flowers (especially roses) as something to run up and down your partner's body can be quite sensual. Just be careful of the thorns! = D

Yess :D Especially since some of my favorite flowers can be easily found. Me and my partner have already contemplated something similar, but with berries :P

I'd be worried about fragility. Plant flesh crushes, where animal flesh yields and springs back. But then you get hybrids... or hard fruits, like cucumbers or bananas. Which are dead common to play with.

But anyway. Any discussion of plant sex bumps me into Pokemon territory again. Vine whip, anyone?
