Tech Question, AIM related...

If the contents of the journal below don't concern you, don't waste my time responding :D
Ok, My comp is starting to die in general, but one thing keeps happening and its pissing me off x_x
Aim will take like 10 minutes to show up once I load it, and I know its not aim just being shitty cause it works fine on my laptop but not my desktop.
I click the icon, it sits in my tray, so I know its loading, but the actual window doesnt pop up for literally about 5-10 mins later. Then, once I actually load it and hit sign in, it sits there for another 10 mins, meanwhile, people are IMing me thinking I'm ignoring them x_x
Anyone know what could be causing it? Is it a virus? Adware? Spyware? Ive already run a ton of shit trying to figure out, I hope that maybe the software is conflicting with another and I can just uninstall something else.

Well when I've got problems I go to RUN and type in msconfig and then go to startup and disable everything. Usually that solves all my slow issues with my computer. *Shrugs* Just a thought. ^_^

Hmmm with me its different With my AIM once I sign on it crashes and its like... yea ok so now Im using trillian x.=.x

I don't know what to tell ya, but sometimes my AIM messes up a lot as well.

High time for a fresh format and reinstall, methinks. Windows can't get rid of all the broken DLLs and the like that build up in dark corners, so you're going to have to do a clean reinstall every 12-36 months.

I use Trillian, I don't trust AIM or YIM. I only used them long enough to get accounts, then switched to Trillian. :D

What Varus said, if you can reformat your C and reinstall windows, that should clear up a lot of performance issues.

Is it the new version of AIM? Or the old one? When I installed the new one on my desktop, it would go extremely slow for me too XP So I deleted it and went back to the 'classic' version from their site.

Clean it up with spyware programs and such, then do as they say, reformat C. If that doesn't fit it, it means that either A) Your RAM wore down or B) Your CPU has worn down.

Might also be Spyware/adware on your pc
