Or I guess you could just post random questions here. But it's just more nifty using Formspring, isn't it?

I wanna know how you guys write the lyrics for your songs. That always seems to be the hardest part.
well, inspiration can hit from just about anywhere. I dreamed the melody and the main hook for "I'm Awake" ironically enough! the bass lines for "This Outsider" and "When You Love Me" came from jam sessions with David, and I started humming along and came up with a melody. the lyrics came later on while I sat with my notebook -- then I paired it up with the music we already wrote. and sometimes, with songs like "Peace Corps", the lyrics came from random bolts of inspiration. i knew a girl who said she was going to be joining the Peace corps, and those lyrics just popped into my head.... "she said she's gonna join the peace corps.... she said she's gonna save the world... and I believe her." so inspiration comes from many sources. once a good hook gets paired up with interesting music, the rest of the song can almost write itself, you know? :) thanks for the question!
