Muse muse muse!
I just got to thinking about color symbolism, western color symbolism to be precise. As I understand it, different cultures can have some very different color connotations. For example, traditionally in china white was the color of death (and, I believe, worn for funerals), and red was the color of health and weddings. Whereas in the US black is the color for death/funerals and white is supposed to be "virginal" and "pure" and weddings. :P
To be even more specific, I was thinking of colors as they apply to a person or mood. For example "green with envy" "purple with rage" "white as a ghost" etc. So! Here's my list of colors/emotions to chew on... let me know what you think (if you have any to add, if you know of a different connotation in another culture, if you think any are "reaching", etc)
Red - can be embarassment (flushing) or, sometimes, anger
orange - nothing?!
yellow - cowardice. Sometimes, sickness (long-term kind, jaundice)
green - envy, or, again, sickness (though of the "I'm gonna hurl!" kind, usually)
blue - sad
purple - rage
white - fear, scared
black - general "dark mood" (depression, anger, brooding)
grey - old
glowing - happy
