to be honest, the animation looked great, and seemed kinda cool.
but, when when they were fighting... well, really flashy.

i think in this day and age, these sort of fights that destroy surroundings, its been used lots, and can be spoiling.

These two particular characters are higher up on Wakfu's echelon of power so their collateral damage is somewhat to scale, the main character's party do not operate on that level from the get-go. Personally though I like the little details that they put in the damage like how the river was boiling after Grou's flame breath.

Lots of animations now-a-days use flash! There are even other programs that use vectors but oriented exactly for cartoon animation exactly for those uses. These programs are fairly easy to use and allow pros and amateurs to create quality animations. n_n
It's the medium I plan to use for my personal Toku-Project, I just need to properly learn how to properly animate.

Examples of Shows that use vector-based animation: Chaotic (season 1), World of Quest, Johnny Test (season 2), Wakfu, Kid vs Kat, Foster Home for Imaginary Friends, Turma da Mônica (brazilian cartoon), Spliced, Grossology, various kids shows on several channels (wich I don't know them by name) with them ranging from standard to absurdly fluid animation, among others.

Today it's overly used due to it's practicity, range of animation techniques, high quality vectors, both frame-by-frame and tween animation (mostly combined for biggest fluidity), easy to import textures, instant sound synch into animation, it's a program that's easy to use and obviously much cheaper when it comes to production costs since you're saving on paint, ink, a good chunk of paper, celuloid, chemicals and lots of other materials for traditional animation.

looks so far interesting, and that robotic dude is creepy as hell.

Some of the really swift movement animations irked the shit out of me, but I was well aware of Wakfu's high animation quality from the beginning.

To be honest, though, I'm just waiting for an official English or Japanese dub. Particularly a Japanese dub would rock the killer socks off this series. I talked to Ankama Japan's marketing manager at Tokyo Anime Fair '10 about it, and he said they were working on it.

I dont want it dubbed, I want it completely subtitled. If you watch the series and listen to the voice cast, you will love it as is. The current cast (it took more than one attempt to cast) is just superb. Subtitles!

I actually do have to agree with you, I just love Nox' neurotic voice.

Wow... thats danged impressive. Sadly, I don't really have the time to watch subtitled stuff anymore.. I hope a decent dubbing company gets hold of this before 4Kids does.

As for the next season... all Ive heard are rumors, from the introduction of an Evil Eliatrope, to Grovy's return, to the group going after Ogrest. But that's all they are apparently, just rumors.
