I utterly don't get it. The *point* of fiction is a sort of vicarious self-insertion. We think about what it would be like to be a part of the situations depicted, either "alongside" the characters, or "as" a character, or "in place of" a character. This is normal. Every little kid who wants to be Harry Potter, and dreams of running around Hogwarts with Ron and Hermione (and sometimes Harry too -- Mary Sueing themselves into the star role) isn't being "terrible," they're just imagining freely, and that's sort of the point, now, isn't it?

Otherwise it's a sort of dry, mirthless "history lesson" of a world that never was. "Once upon a time in a different world, X did Y, and A and B did C, and you can't do anything about it but memorize it."

Why is it, then, that little kids are free to imagine anything they like -- Hunter can be "my best friend," or a space captain, or a flamenco dancer, or whatever the imaginer wishes -- but when an adult does so, it's "wrong?" I don't see why we're any less entitled to imagine, and I don't, truthfully, see any harm in imagining romance. We as animal-people fans get a lot of flak for that, but somehow, the piles of Mary-Sue-healing-Dr.-House stories and sketches are "normal."

Hon, love up Hunter all you like. It's your fantasy. You're not trying to sell it as canonical Road Rovers source material. You're not even necessarily trying to convince others that this is the best of all possible pairings for them to recognize. You're playing "make-believe," essentially. Why the hell NOT? We all get to date, romance, and even sleep with, as many imaginary people as we like.

I happen to think Hunter and Alethia make a cute and very snuggly couple. So nyah. Hello. This is your perfect little Rovers daydream. There are many like it, but this one is yours. It makes you happy, thus it is particularly special to you. It gets to. You get to enjoy it. And so help me God, it makes me want to ask the trolls, "What's the matter, did *your* imaginary crush turn you down?"

We all have our "tragic little daydreams" of self-serving warmth. All of us. If there's one thing I learned from my first marriage, it's that every fantasy boils down to the same things: wish fulfillment, self-vindication, empowerment, and being the object of love and admiration, and that people, in order to feel less guilty about their own needs, love to put down others' taste in imagery. I don't see any good reason why yours are "unworthy." You get to dig Hunter. You get to make up your own "happily ever after."

And really, you'd think with all the genuinely hideous stuff one can find on the interest, that Hunter smooching up Alethia would be the least of his worries in his vigilante quest the SAVE DA INTERNETS. Who knew Alethia's lips were such a threat to world peace?

I thank you very much for your very positive and realistic outlook on things. I'm not the kind of person to go bawwwww in a corner over this 'fursecution', ( especially after all the things I've already been through in regards to this fandom, lol ), but I just found out it amazing that I was posting art online again for what, only 2 weeks? and already the nutjobs were finding me.

And like you said, being an adult with an imagination is not nearly as bizarre as being an adult ( assuming he is one ) and getting this crazed over fanart and dedicating your time to policing it.

Isn't it amazing how there's always a viewer who believes that, because s/he is able to see the pictures, they must have been sketched specifically for their pleasure as consumers?

I'm sorry to hear that. I know what you mean; been a mean run of siezure medication and prescription narcotics to deal with a neurological issue, and some days, both hands and feet go totally numb and I can't do anything but lay down and wait for it to go away.

Eh part of the reason why even I decided to step away from furry fandom and stop drawing. Although I never had anyone complain to that degree of butthurt over my art. I never really drew anything sides Duncan anyways so.. Meh. If anything your art has always been wonderful and beautiful Kylen. Especially that of Alethia, our favorite Rover! I'd get back into drawing again but my wacom pen broke =P

XD. He's a goody goody purist from this site called BALTO SOURCE where they baw if you stray from the "real" stories or have any hint of sexual innuendo in your art. 8D
