Disney Biography
I picked up a new biography on Walt Disney awhile ago and can't put it down. I got it because, like many others, I grew up on Disney movies such as Dumbo, Bambi, Cinderella, Pinocchio, and especially Robin Hood. (Which I found out was released in 1973, Walt died in '66.) Of course, I was way too young to appreciate what it meant in American society and for cartooning/animation in general. I'm just getting into the accusations of him being anti-semetic, a red-baiter, or a petophile (this one seems, as I read on, completely false and a malicious rumor.) Its not just about him either, there were many great animators alongside him.
So, if anyone grew up on these movies and wants to know where they came from, I highly recommend the book: "Walt Disney: the Triumph of the American Imagination," by Neal Gabler.
