So my parents want to get the dog castrated........

I'm on a mission to prevent my dog from getting neutered. He's about 6 months old, and (we think) he's mostly basenji. That's not my dog. This is my dog. He has no behavioral problems that aren't normal for a puppy his age.
Anyway. My parents want to get him "fixed", mostly because they're the kind of people who will do such a thing without looking into it simply because society tells them to. I, however, did some research and found quite a few sources indicating some pretty serious risks involved with getting a puppy neutered. Here some links, if you'd like to review my information:

So here's why I'm posting this: What do YOU think is the best course of action from this point? I haven't sent these links to my parents for their review yet, so if you have any other useful info, I'd be glad to see it. Thanks so much!

The links you are posting to I have heard about a billion times from clients who eventually realize that neutering IS the better option. Whether you neutered or not they still run the risk of getting urinary cancers, oesteosarcoma and all the other things listed. Dog can't live forever unfortunately and somethings gotta kill them eventually. I'd rather have my dogs be more enjoyable while they are around, and that's why all of mine are fixed.
The obesity factor is SUCH CRAP. YOU control your dogs food intake, if you're dog is fat YOU are feeding your dog too much (unless they have something like hypothyroidism (my first dog had this) then they gain weigh because of an extremely treatable glandular problem). I have to laugh to hard when people tell me their dog is fat because they were neutered - WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP. My pets are all fit and trim and they are all "fixed". You know why? Because if they start gaining weight I go "Oh, maybe I should stop feeding them so much!" and then, WOW they lose weight! Exercise also helps out big time too.
If this is all about the whole "HE'S LOSING HIS MANHOOD BAAAAAWWW" then you need to stop anthropomorphizing your dog. Dogs do not give a flying fuck whether they have their balls or not - they don't associate it with "being a man" like humans do. People who say their dogs look sad immediately following a neuter - well that's called Aceproamazine and recovering from anesthesia. Most the time they next day they are running around like nothing happened, which is really frustrating because they have to be calm and contained for a few days after surgery.
There is a reason neutering is a popular thing to do AND required by most shelters before adopting out an animal. It's not a money making scheme - most vets who volunteer at shelters and not get paid (or get paid very little!) but still do it just so they can help control the pet population.
So you're parents ARE making the right decision even if they are doing it for the wrong reasons as you claim. Sorry that's not the answer you want to hear - but that's the way it is.
