That feature has always seemed rather pointless to me. It's like it exists for the soul purpose of saying "Someone can't stand something about you, but we're not going to tell you who or why. We just thought you'd want to know. 8D"

It's not a "feature" of the website, it's a product of your own laziness.

When someone +watches/+favs something, you receive notification.
If you clear that notification, nothing special happens.

If you don't clear it, however, and the user decides to back out on it, then the notification has to change. It doesn't just "poof" into non-existence because the person changed their mind.

FA does not wait for each and every watcher on your list to come back and click the -watch button. It does not hold a special set of notifications just to tell you something negative has happened. There is only the absence of something positive.

I'm not always on FA daily, and I've come back from brief periods of absence to find those -watch/fav notifications.

I'm aware it's just in the coding, but that doesn't make it any less upsetting. I'm hopeing that the redux to come manages to code some other response than what there currently is. A similar system is used when people delete submissions, and you wind up with your favorites being riddled with "THIS SUBMISSION HAS BEEN DELETED" which is lousy. There should just be 'nothing' in the absence.

Who cares? It's still stupid, and if they didn't have that before, why can't they get rid of it now?
It's like they're showing how lazy THEY are with their coding. Not showing that OTHER PEOPLE are lazy.

You know, some people have lives, and don't pay attention to FA every breath taking minute of their day. So they can't just assume what you're saying is the actual thing going on, and never think that "omg someone unwatched me."

The deleting a journal thing is stupid too. No other website has that "malfunction" of coding.


Oh, but hey! We have a SEARCH FUNCTION NOW after what? 3, 4 years? Yeah. This site needs a major revamp of coding.

It's actually another wonderful glitch FA has. The +watch/+fav is supposed to show up in your inbox, but then the user removes it, and the notification is replaced with the whole unwatched/unfaved message because the site needs something to put there.

I know! I hate those with a passion. There have been times when the number of 'submission deleted' outnumbers the ones I have in my inbox.

I don't particularly mind the missing journal gaps. What I hate is when I get a reply to a comment on one, and it's gone before I could see it :[

It means they probably pressed the button by accident. It doesn't show up if someone has watched you then unwatches you months later for example. Only if the user double clicks or something.

Yeah, it's stupid, but before if someone unwatched you they could spam your inbox with unwatch notifications.

doesnt' show if you deleted the notification that someone faved int he first place...unless someone favs and unfavs right away or between checks. same applies to watches.

thats exactly my thoughts. there are some people who fave stuff, then clear their faves and start over. still, i think thats a strange thing to do

On DA some people do it for pageviews. Doesn't really work here though, I wonder if they even realise that.

Same with people deleting journals or submissions. I get that it's a glitch of it showing up in your inbox and then they delete it before you can clear it, but it's still annoying as fuck. It always bugs me when I see that as well. It's like, GYAAAHHHH WHO WAS IT, I will never know :C

I've been unwatched before, it pained me a bit but hey shit happens I guess =/ still sucks balls though and I know how you feel, now the whole someone telling you someone unwatched or unfaved you..that never happened to me...and i don't see why someone would tell you that when it shows in your messages...>>; and it's kinda of a dicky way in a sense...

It has nothing to do with FA notifying you that every time someone has unwatched you. All it is is you not clearing out the original watch message, and them changing their mind before you do. ... just keep up to date on your message cleaning.

yeah, it's been annoying me, because i get the unfaving a lot and it irritates me- why would someone fav something and then get rid of it, haha.
but since i started clearing my message center i never got it again, so minnieshoof is right and it's probably the best way around it to keep it clear. but for curiousity's sake you can as well keep them and hawk-eye your favorites who did what/why- but that's silly. XD

Recently I had someone fav. a drawing, then immediately send me a note asking me to DRAW to win the fabulous prize of "free comic ideas" because they could tell I was such a GREAT artist, then about three minutes later they deleted the favroite. I had also wondered what made them change their mind THAT fast.

It leaves so many questions unanswered. Or even when the journals are deleted and I just have to see that there was once a journal and I am left to wonder what was in it.

As soon as that happens to me I go through my watch list to see if anyone pokey-outy is missing from the list. Of I go through my faves to see if I can find out who. I wish You didn't have to know about it. That or that the person doing it has to tell you first. At least then most people wouldn't do it.....But also, I don't want to hear "Can you undo this? I faved it by accident and YOU'RE A LOSER."
