It's an AT&T U.S. Pay-as-you-go phone. Meaning I'll actually be able to use it for both text AND voice. No roaming for me this year!

You can call or text without worrying. I've actually bought/been given the phone from a friend who now has a super fancy Motorola Droid, and no longer wants or needs the pay as you go, so I'm essentially buying out his minutes and I believe hes giving me the phone since it's a bit out of date. Nice thing is, the plan the phone is on means the minutes last for a year, so I only need to top up once a year to keep the phone 'active.'
