RROD!
It was bound to happen sooner or later. My Xbox 360 pulled the good ol' RROD trick. And because it's from 2006, it's out of warranty.
Conveniently, Microsoft announced and released the new Xbox 360 Slim at E3, but there's a little problem. See, just to be jerks about it, they replaced their proprietary hard drive design with a new proprietary hard drive design. So I have a dead Xbox I can't turn on to do a traditional USB transfer and an HD that I apparently can't connect into the new system. Brilliant! *groans*

Blahhh. Wish I had known this months ago, when I bought that FFXIII 250GB Bundle. Rawr. That still made me feel miffed. =P

Should be able to find one through other means...
So yeah, I am in the same fucked up situation. Don't have any fresh backups of my saves, so I will have to shell out $15 for the transfer kit.
But then again, since I am poorer than dirt, it may be a long time before I can get my system fixed or replaced
*bang head against wall* And I was enjoying the new Overlord DLC for Mass Effect 2...
I don't play games like Mass Effect, so I think I might see if I can ignore the saved game problem. I rarely go back to saved games anyway. But I can see where if you are an RPG gamer who spent dozens of hours working on a profile how this would be infuriating.
