Sometimes, you must be the Villain to be the Hero.
Has anyone noticed that most people take others at face value? Truely, it seems that people prefer the facade to the real deal.
The reason I bring this up is quite simple: The parents of a good friend of mine see me as little better than the spawn of Satan. It's not my sexuality, nor my goals in life; those aren't the problem, considering their son is gay.
No, the problem is that I stand by my choices, rather than let my family choose for me. So, in keeping with logical stupidity, they banned their seventeen year old son from seeing, speaking to, or even contacting the source of his growing spine: Me. And here's the worst part.
He's listening to them.
So, now the work that took me a year and a half to create with painstaking care and limitless patience... Is gone in a matter of days. Tell me, what's a lynx to do against that kind of power?

Sadly, in most cases, there's not much you can do without making a huge fuss.
I can't really put some input, nor me feelings into this enough to help you Shade. Some people just find it easier to deal with the shallow labels put on a person, either too afraid or unwilling to find out about the real person to care.
I'm really sorry to hear about your friend, I mean, it's not your fault or anything. But I guess you can't make him disobey his parents like that without getting things ugly. I just hope things look up for you soon.
