Anthrocon 2010 - No Show

I will not be attending AC2010.
This will be the 1st AC since 2004 that I will not be attending.
I will miss those of you I only see at AC, but I encourage you to attend Furfright 2010.
I will be doing a cooking panel at Furfright. Similar to the one I did with Razor Wolf at FAU.
Razor and I will be bringing something new to this panel.
So I hope to see many of you there at Furfright.

The cost is going up and up (travel and hotel and food). And the con isn't as good as it once was. Why pay tons of cash for a con that's not giving good customer service to the attendees that pay the bills?
The security force, dorsai, have been belligerent to some attendees and vendors/dealers in some cases. They are lacking in good customer service, majorly.
The main reason for the relocation of AC from Philly to Pittsburgh was for more hotel space. The rooms sold out after only 3 hours? Not very much room, is there?
Requiring a days deposit in order to register for the room. Not cool.
Having housekeeping go through our rooms each day whether we want/need them or not? Bogus.
So yeah, I just had enough. I wasn't going to waste my vacation time when I could use it and get more out of the vacation time elsewhere.
I'll miss the friends. I won't miss the issues.
I will be at Furfright though.
THANK you watcher. I am dead tired of people going on thinking that AC is the be all / end all of cons.
I have also had it with the Dorsai. Hell a friend of mine (not naming names) was part of the Dorsai but got out when they were getting "too big for their britches". Hell Manitou got YELLED at in 2008 by taking his head off in the parade from one of the Dorsai. The reason he took it off? He couldn't breathe!
The hotel for the most part is nice. But yeah.. selling out in 3 hours? Fuck that. Tired of that shit. I am dead tired of thinking of a YEAR in advance to go to some con that I have to shell out at LEAST 2k for a weekend only to be told by con staff and dorsai "Oh you can do this this and this.. but not these things."
The thing that irks me alot is the stance that the con takes on somethings. For example last year at AC there wasn't a problem at all with anything but supposedly there was a major problem that someone whipped up with balloons. Now... ALL BALLOONS are OUTLAWED in AC conspace because AC doesn't want to have to pay for the union guys on staff if one of them gets away.
Yeah. Not alot of fun. Sorry. I am not going to shell out 2k+ for a con that's going to treat it's congoers like garbage. And Steel City Diner closed so that's another reason for me not go back there.. ever.
Furfright however, is a con we are going to shoot for hopefully this year but we will see how things go. We want to get out there a week before it starts.. but.. there's a problem. Housing. I don't want to pay for a hotel for an entire week and finding some place to stay that's close to NYC (as Manitou has NEVER been to NYC *grins* god the fun I could have.) is becoming a bit of an issue. But yeah i'd LOVE to fricking rock furfright as it sounds like a better con all around. Smaller, alot more fun, great people and a great theme (not to mention it's on halloween weekend! Hello! :D
Anyway, watcher thanks for voicing your opinions. I am glad we see eye to eye on this and if you ever need a place to stay out in California you know you have a home here. Love ya! :)

The Titanium Tea is held at the con suite (AC got rid of their con suite years ago) at these cons.
You should try them.
