1408

My two biggest literary influences are Stephen King and Neil Gaiman. King in particular fascinates me because he can write horror. I'm not talking about horror as in a genre, but as in he strings letters together to form words that trigger actual terror in the reader.
I am, however, one who will concede that King is not always on his "A" game, and cinematic adaptations of his works rarely come out good.
Having said that, I have to strongly encourage you to go see 1408. I saw it despite trailers that made it look like King was ripping himself off by doing a small-scale The Shining. He isn't; this is a psychological thriller merged with a haunted house story, and it's simply a thinking man's horror film.
You should support this movie if you like scary stories. It proves that you don't need to show someone getting tortured and mutilated on-camera to create an unsettling atmosphere.

"OMIGOD, LOOK BEHIND THE DOOR!"
"OMIGOD, YOU'RE BLEEDING!"
"OMIGOD, WE'RE WATCHING A MOVIE!"
...(have my english writing, tiping gone better?)...
Also, your English seems fine to me. It's far better than my Portuguese!
Thus, I'm worried that, good as the movie may be, it won't measure up...
