two fabels
there once were two lovers, a caterpillar and a tadpole. the catterpillar called her tadpole her "beautiful black pearl" and the tadpole called her his "lovely rainbow." the caterpillar loved the tadpole so much that she made him promice never to change. one day she showed up at his pond and he had grown a leg. she was heart broken that he would change when he promised not to. she tried to understand why he would do this but everytime she saw him he had changed again, growing more limbs. she was so hurt by his changing that she went and cried herself to sleep. when she awoke a few weeks later she dried her new wings and went to look for her beatifulblack pearl. she flew to his pond and saw a little green frog. she approached him and said, "have you seen my love the beautiful-" and quick as lightning the frog ate her up. as he sat there the frog sighed and wondered when his lovely rainbow would return to him.
a scorpion came to a stream. being unable to swim he approached a frog.
"frog, could you carry me to the other side of this river?"
the frog replied, "i would, my friend, but how would i know that you wouldn't sting me and kill me?"
"i would never do that." replied the scorpion.
"well then hop on and i shall carry you across." and they set off across the stream. when they were in the middle of the stream the scorpion stung the frog. as he felt his limbs weaken and begen to sink the frog turned to the scorpion and asked, "why did you do that? now both of us will die?" the scorpion looked in his eyes and said, "i am a scorpion. i cannot deny my nature."
then they both drowned.
i broke up with rune. by not wanting to be the frog i have become the scorpion. i feel numb and more than a little surreal. those of you in denver, please give him comfort.
