So with the upcoming new twilight release, and everyone's obsession over vampires, i thought i'd offer my 2 cents.
Ya know, I don't really get why so many people are fantasizing about vampires so much. on one side of the spectrum, i feel that the vampire romance thing is really starting to run its course. Secondly, everything that we see now is merely just Hollywood fabrications of what vampires actually are. Fabrications of mythology.
Vampires are in fact, scorned creatures. They are eternally damned, and live in solitary isolation. They are cursed with having to drink blood in order to survive. If you read up on vampire mythos, you'll see they were actually highly miserable creatures. And i would be miserable too. Vampires don't run around in trench coats and do martial arts 10 feet into the air. (even though it's kinda cool), and vampires aren't supposed to live peacefully among humans either. But that's just the way Hollywood works.

Heres some other fact:
The "million diamond" sparkle thing: Tinkerbell, strippers and gay men sparkle, not vampires
Cold feeling skin: Listen up Bella, "VAMPIRES ARE DEAD!!! D-E-D DEAD!!!"
Vampires do not play on highschool baseball teams, they sit and listen to Joy Division while talking about darkness
Mormons should not write vampire novels, nothing wrong with the religion, its just i wouldnt want a roman catholic writting homosexual paranormal romance novels either....besides Anne Rice >.>
Also, and probably the most important fact: Diet Coke is the new Pepsi One DUN DUN DUUUUUUNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!
Either way, Vampires ARE undead people feasting on blood, to keep their body from decomposing..kinda like zombies and brains.
Also, for Vampires being a big deal in the gothic culture, Ive never met anybody who dresses up with the fangs and all...then again, Im in Toronto, and thats a big Gothic/Dark wave area...

Vampires have to drink blood and are kind of living dead or how else I should decribe them ...
As for Twitlight's (not a typo) Sparkle-vamps: UGH. I wanna fuggin' hurt the idiot who wrote that drivel.
And Hollywood...yeah, you know how they have to glamorize and stylize everything. they make evil and hate look glamorous, so they can do it with supposedly self-loathing vampires, too, I guess.
