Just got back from seeing the movie. Anyone else seen it? Honestly, and this is coming from a truly avid fan of the series, it was decent. He definitely missed a few plot points that I personally wish he hadn't left out, but time limits considered Ill let it slide. I think my biggest problem was the lack of build up to the finale. It was pretty much "OK were here at the northern water tribe now...OMG FIRE NATION!!!" then Aang does his avatar state deal and THE END. lol. All in all I think he has got at least the ball rolling, Ill wait until the DVD release and a hopefully a directors cut. For what it is Id give it a 6-7 out of 10. It wasnt bad...but it wasnt great either. It was just alright. Any thoughts?

Oh and just as a forewarning, Aang in the movie is pronounced like aww-ng Sokka is now Sew-ka and Iroh is Ear-o. I know, i cried a little too, but take it for what it is and tell me what you think!

I'm gonna be sad to see that the Keoshi warriors aren't there, but he had to do it, or else the whole movie would have been about them, or so he said, lol.

did he? I have a feeling hell include the Kyoshi warriors in the second movie somewhere. He diverged quite a bit from the series, but still got at least the story out there

Well look at them, they're big enough to have their own story, and apparently, he loved just the basics of them, so yea. But I doubt he'd involve them into the story in the second movie, it would leave people confused if they don't know who they are.

Without them, the plot would just be fucked up, because Azula, who better be in the movie, wouldn't be able to sneak into the earth kingdom like she did, and it would miss an entire plot point that was major.

After seeing it and clearing most of my expectations beforehand, it was actually not that bad. But if you go in expecting it to be absolutely amazing like the cartoon, then you will be greatly disappointed. But omg... Azula at the end, creeeeepy, just like her, lol.

The movie was well, I left my expectations at the door. My biggest problem was as you mentioned the lack of buildup at the climax of the movie. For pete's sake they show this giant wave of water for minutes on end and multiple different angles like something is going to happen...and nope. Plus the television show's avatar state for that scene was awesome. Of course, that can't always be put into a movie, but it would have been nice to have some sort of real action in a climax.

Don't get me started on the name thing. Crying is definitely the proper action of choice.

Yeah the cartoon version of that scene I wish they had incorporated it in some way. I think if it had been rated PG-13 they would have been able to make it more action packed awesome then just some giant wall of water that scares the fire nation away. The one character i was really sad they didn't put in was Koh the face stealer. He was a great villain in the show. sucks they didn't put him in.

and yeah....the names, I think we could fill a nice long novel about why, especially when you are dealing with a well established world and fan base, you KEEP THE ORIGINAL SOUNDING NAMES!!! lol

It would have been nice to have seen some of the other characters. With this version, it seemed as though you were introduced to the characters, but with the rushed pace of the movie it ended up being pretty much bending boy, bending girl, boy, etc. so on and so forth.

I understand it is never fully possible to please such avid fans of any fanbase in general, but this movie did everything to disappoint it. I'm sure some will find the good within it, I know I found some parts to be entertaining, but overall it left so much to be desired.

lets just hope he gets his act together in time for the last 2. Things that will make it work are a) a spot on Toph , more character development (which being the middle movie he should hopefully be able to do) and c) better figh cinematography. coming from a suspense thriller background he definitely needs to learn a couple more tricks before rolling out the next two.

He definitely has some ground to make up if he gets the next two greenlit. I hadn't heard anything about the next two in relation to filming, but after the reviews and possible figures the movie will bring this weekend, who knows what could happen.

but you have to remember that its not an anime, its an American cartoon created by two guys who worked on king of the Hill and Family Guy together, and has an anime-ish influence to it. But believe me its NOT an anime :)

A trilogy would've fit the concept better I think. One of the things I really liked about the series is that it had many laid-back episodes. It might have given them more space to work with original scenario's.

But I have yet to see the movie, so I'll just go ahead and keep my yap shut. :3

Well i must say i was a little disapointed today. I went after getting and MRI lol and well dissapointment :P. The names of course was a dissapointment and how Zuko's uncle was way off. The firebenders using torches and such was understandable. And didnt you notice how they talked and acted? I mean it seemed really ameturish. They had slight pauses between words and just talked weird....and Ang wasn't childish like he should have been. And yeah it was pretty rushed so that part sucked a bit. And Katara got hardly any bending time which sucked. Lol well i guess my rant is over :P as a movie it was ok as a movie adaption of a cartoon series it well stunk.
