How long have you been doing art?

More or less constantly since I was 4. So a very Loooooooooooong time. Offically furry? Umm since 1998 or so. Somewhere around there I started posting stuff.

What drew you into 'furry'?

Always drew them, mostly as 'demonic' types in fantasy art. But getting me here I can blame a specific friend. He knows who he is

Do the males you draw (the 'big' ones) represent standard dudes in Sudonym-iverse, or are they as stand-out as a male in the standard RL-iverse would be with such a body type?

Well I do tend to focus on the big fellas, but I'd have to say there are probably a few more of them to be found than in the rl universe, but given the reactions of some of the other characters pictured - they're still standouts even so.

No idea, I'm making this up as I go along. So as many as it takes to finish. I'm thinking 2 or maybe 3 more for this story

Do you have any "strange" phobias? Fear of spiders (arachnophobia) is very common, but phobias like limnophobia (fear of lakes) is more rare.

Most of your art, has a touch of snark . How do you inspire?

Well I'm pretty snarky on my own. I'm not sure on how I get inspired. Sometimes things just come to me.

I could ask you a zillion universal questions but here is one nobody has asked:

What comics inspired you to create the comic you are currently working on?

The reason I ask is in order to be a good comic maker you have to get inspiration from somewhere other then here like the famous newspaper comics like Peanuts, Garfield, Curtis, Get Fuzzy, you know, comics like that.

Which of these if any were you inspire by?

Well for this I guess it was because I wanted to do a comic and see if I could get a sequential story going. And for other reasons I'm not going into here.

I do enjoy comic strips like the ones you mentioned but I suppose the most direct inspiration for doing this was because I really enjoy what Furronika does comic wise and wanted to see if I could tell a story in a similar manner.

Did you have any old or current interests in Fantasy Role Playing, like the paper-and-pencil version of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons? Or online Massively Multiplayer Online Games, World of Warcraft or EverQuest, et al.?

Oh totally. I'm a avid and active tabeltop FRPG gamer. AD&D 3.5 now Pathfinder (as D&D 4 turned into the MMORPG simulator and not Dungeons and Dragons) Pathfinder is what 4.0 should have been. But I digress.

Never got into the online games. It's the buy the game then pay more to play it thing that put me off originally, that and I never liked the computerized rpg experience. Just seems so limited after playing tabletop.

Lack of partners for live gaming is what drives a lot of us to online. Me, for sure. I'll try to remember Pathfinder but chances are if any live gaming goes on, I'll just defer to the crowd even if they're doing 4th ed.

I played Magic: The Gathering when only a few expansions existed. I'm way, way done with it now. And most CCGs for that matter. It fits with your "pay to buy/keep paying to play" sour taste, just worse in that the best parts of the game are premium/rare collectables you can't just walk into a store and buy off the shelf - you have to go to a collector and pay 10, 20, 100x equitable shelf price to obtain.

Oh totally. Even though starting with 3 D&D (and by extension pathfinder) have leanded that way as you really cannot play it without minatures or at least a battlemap and alot of coins or whatever. Because of all the proximity in combat rules and the like. So you kinda almost had to buy the minis.

But then clever of them, they are a business and every little bit helps.

I had a tacklebox filled with D&D miniatures for when I played that game. It helped with logistics like line-of-sight and area effect, etc. After all, TSR did mean TACTICAL Systems Rules or something like that...

Oh sure, I'm just saying until 3.0 or so you could fudge it and not really need direct confirmation. The DM would just say - you have line of sight, sure those 4 are lined up for a lightning bolt, you could get 6 of them with a fireball, etc and so forth. You didn't have to worry about all the AoA or reach and all that.

Your icon is a lion in a hoodie or medieval garb? Did you have a leonine fantasy character... perhaps the basis for your fursona or iconic self?

Different aspect of geekery

Was there a leonine affinity with you well before you joined FA or any other art site? Some people change fursonas - mine was wolf, bear, then lizard... It's more about discovering passion than clicking with an animal and saying "definitely that's me" in my case.

I find it curious to learn how people pick their associations, at least when it's not too personal to ask about...

I've always liked lions. So when it was time to pick a fursona I went with that. Haven't changed it and it's been a long time. I'm not sure if it's a case of - oh that's so me, or a case of - that's what I'd like to be, or even - I just like lions Ok?

The truth actually is a tautlogy when you get to its root. A=A. You like lions because you like lions. It's not because of some thing that twirled above your crib or your first plush toy - these may also have been, but the final analysis often comes down to no cause and just effect. Preferences are put into us without learning. Including sexual preferences.

I know for sure I didn't get taught to be gay, and damn certain had my father any means of shaping my environment or development I'd be at least bisexual. I also have no idea where I get aroused at depictions of growth (like shown in werewolf transformations or cartoon growth rays, etc.) but it happens. It's a fetish, and nobody taught it to me. I just found out I respond to it quite by surprise.

I dunno if you've had any surprising epiphanies about yourself, but sometimes being in the fandom, or exposing yourself to new and different experiences or strange people can do that

What are your favorite artworks that re totally outside your oeuvre? I.e, you love it, but it's something that you yourself could never ever have created.

Oh that list is long and extensive. Basically any painting that looks either real or has masterful color. I am at a total loss for stuff like that. For example the works of Van Gogh. Amazing but I would never ever think to paint like that on my own.

First and foremost, You are originally what brought me into furry art. So thanks on that. My question:

What would you consider your best piece of artwork? (You could say yourself but I'd find that narcissistic...)

I'm nost sure if I should say 'you're welcome' or 'I'm sorry' but if you're enjoying it I'm glad

And huh, that's a tough one... as the artist I kinda see my work as eh, and try to do better each time. But I suppose of the current stuff I have up Slice 8 is probably the best one. Or the comic taken as a whole.

Which of your characters do you feel the close to?
What do you suggest a fur trying to learn to draw muscular minotaurs/bulls on how to get started?

Close to? Hmmm. I'm not sure really. I tend to keep stricter tabs on Sudonym just because he's my personal fur.

And as for learning to draw muscular minotaurs, well I recommend looking at comics and bodybuilder magazines for exaggerated muscle structure. How to draw comics the marvel way for more of the same. And the jack Hamm book on How to draw animals.

The key is understanding the basic anatomy before you start doing things like attaching animal heads and whatnot. So a book on artistic anatomy would also be helpful.

But above all is practice, practice, and yet more practice. Don't get discouraged just try to do better every time. I still do that or at least try to.

I'm sorry - are you asking me if I'm ever going to draw straight porn again? Yes I think so. I've been rather remiss in entertaining my straight fans (if there are any left out there) And to be fair I should probably make a straight portfolio for the next FC or something.

Reasons for second question is because Im trying to spread that kind of erotica for there isnt very many of them, for it's to a point of being uncommon. To create a fad like what milfs, teachers did. As well as fat bunnies (not erotica, but everyone seems to be drawing themselves as fat bunnies).

Well I tend to use photoshop, but many people sing the praises of SAI. You will want a tablet to use either however.

And as for the body part problems. Hands and feet are very difficult you need to really look at them and practice. Torsos are the same. Go to your local bookstore and go through the anatomy for artists books. There are many helpful ones and get the one that makes the most sense to you. And after that - practice practice practice. Look at your own hands/feet and try to draw them. Try to copy them out of magazines. But don't just copy, try and get a feel for how they're put together. It's hard but with persistance you'll get the hang of it!

What is your commission information, if you take them, what you will draw, what is your usual availability, and what is your general pricing? Thank you for being patient with me in this question, and I hope that you are not troubled by it.

I'm not currently taking them, but I am trying to decide on how many to take at once to ensure an even flow of work and not make everyone wait for an unreasonable time. I also need to think on prices but I will probably stick to something near my old scale which I will explain when the time comes.

And of course I'm not troubled by it - I'm happy that you're interested and with luck I'll be able to accommodate you sooner than later.
