Well...

About a month ago, I wrote out a list of things that I should try getting done this summer. Among them was organizing a meet in the Bay Area. At the local county fair, in particular. I figured it would work; after all, why not? Plenty of cool, well-adjusted people attend that "Crack Chicken" meet, and there's nothing to do there but eat and talk. Surely we'd be able to get people on board for a little trip to the county fair, where there's plenty to do. The whole fair's been an annual tradition for me every year, I thought this year I might actually get to go with some others and hopefully they'd enjoy it as much as I do.
I got the word out: I got event info, with details, posted up on the NoCalFurs account. I put out an e-mail to the Bay Area Fur mailing list, letting everyone know about it. I even printed up a few flyers (as seen here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3994347 ) and passed them out at the Chicken meet a good month in advance, and every week up to the day before. (It was only ten flyers total.)
The days of the meet come, and...nothing. Nobody showed up. Not that I was expecting many people to begin with, but not one person?
But why did nobody show up? Did I not do enough to let people know? (I doubt that.) Did I turn people off by being too enthusiastic about it? Did I pick bad dates for meeting?
I just don't understand. Where did I go wrong?

I highly doubt your enthusiasm turned them off.
I was wrong to think I could compete with one of the busiest times of the year, I guess...
