So I'm new to California.. I knew that earthquakes could be bad but I grew up in FL and NC.. We never learned about some of California's history and all that..
And Im a big history nut and after hearing about this one earthquake I'm really shocked as to why I never really heard anything about this in school D8
This earthquake in 1989 is a holy crap earthquake. To see all the damage and deaths from that is.. crazy. The top section of the bridge falling, the whole upper deck of another road totally collapsing. Its crazy.

I think the one that was really freaky in NC was about.. 3 years ago? And really early in the morning around 6. Its kinda funny cause I set my alarm to get up but that morning I felt like having an extra 5 minutes to wake up.. so I reset my alarm just in case and about 3 minutes later the house was shaking from a 4.2 or something a bit south from us. And thats scary being in a log cabin on the mountain side during an earthquake xD
