Just a note on messengers

"You're fat" is not a topic of conversation.
It is not interesting, and it also displays a lack of decent social skills.
Messaging someone and starting off with "You're fat" where it is not a joke between friends and an understood, humorous replacement for "Hello" may not only offend some people, but also make you look like a moron to the person you do it to, as you are declaring from the forefront "I have nothing interesting to talk about, so I am going to attempt to get you to start a conversation even though I'm messaging you without any reason to do so."
Why anyone would think this would be a good method of starting a conversation with someone they do not know I haven't the foggiest, but I figured I'd just put that out there.
(And now I brace for numerous people that will think it's humorous to message me with this message simply because I'm posting this journal.)

FA+

"Hello, We haven't met but I've seen you on FA and I was wondering if you'd like to chat !"
I honestly don't mind people wanting to chat or anything like that, and I can't promise that I'll be the most interesting person all of the time (I'm usually somewhat tired or busy, but I like talking to people and such.)
I've just found that more and more people lately seem to message someone with an unspoken "I'm bored" message and expect them to fill in the blank 9_6
People need to know that jokes don't mix well with srsness most of the time.
On a friend level, just starting a conversation with "You're fat" could be a playful poking (replying with "You're dumb." and running from there) and that's fine in my book. It's just... if it's someone you don't talk to, why do that? D:
But I assure you that there is people that start like this:
"Hi there!"
"Hello!"
"Hey, are you fat?"
"Umm, yeah, why?"
"You are faaaat."
*ker-blocked*
What SUCKS is when it's really someone worth talking to and they just... can't really introduce themselves well. It's happened a few times before, too, hmm.
if i don't know someone, It's usually a "hey, i'm ____, you seemed like a pretty cool dude/person."
though i usually don't message anyone out of the blue.
or people who just start off roleplaying. >C<
This whole journal just reminds me to get your MSN sometime but whoopsie I keep forgetting :c
I thought you actually added me the other day but I haven't seen you on.
I'll try and remember what your msn is so I can search it on my contact list and then see if you're there
Augh my brain is braining
You're offline for me though maybe you didn't accept my request
I did it on pidgin though which can be wacky hmm
Try resending it maybe and I'll get on my normal client
But yeah, people just need to learn some social tact. They'll eventually learn :p (maybe) Till then just handle the odd balls as need be
