Today's adventure

Since my boyfriend Jon got promoted and moved to a new store, I have been driving him to Greensburg and waiting at the mall he works at during the day because it would cost too much in gas to leave him there and pick him up later. Today, like any normal day, I took him out and I spent time reading in the food court and walking around the mall.
When he was done working, we walked out and the car would not start. At first, I though I had just let go of the key too soon and I tried again, the engine would NOT turn over. I called roadside assistance on my car insurance. They were going to send someone to jump the car, thinking it was possible that something got left on and drained the battery. However, the nice security guy came over and tried to jump it and it didn't work.
I called roadside assistance back to let them we whould need the tow truck, not the jump and while I was on the phone with them (on hold forever) the nice guy showed up and just happened to be driving a nice flatbed tow truck. We found out the distance limit on my insurance for the tow and how much extra ($35) it would be to bring it to my normal mechanic in Monroeville and we paid the extra to come home.
My parents met us at the apartment just as the tow truck was dropping us off on the way to the mechanic and were nice enough to leave me one of their cars since of course mine won't be even looked at till Monday, and Jon as to work tomorrow.
All we can tell now is that it's not the fuel pump (thanks because that cost almost $900 when it broke 2 years ago) and it's not the battery or alternator, and it's not the starter. People confirmed all those things are ok. One guy said it may be something in the wiring, the driver of the tow truck said it could be the fuel filter is clogged, and that would not be too expensive.
I really hope it's affordable cause I'm still laid off looking for a job. We get lucky that Jon has a larger pay next month due to having that occasional 3rd pay in august, but his next check isn't until the day after rent is due. I know that they can't cash the check until the next day though since I will drop it off after the office closes so we can make a deposit on the morning of his pay and all will be ok. That is, unless it costs more than we have to spend even with that next paycheck. But, I doubt that will happen.
I really hope we don't have too many more adventures like this. I'm anxious to find out what's wrong with it!

The funny thing is mom's mini-van is the same color as my car so it just seems like a larger version of my car - as a Dodge Caravan. I'm just used to sitting drinks and things on the roof while I open the door and I can't reach the roof on the mini-van.
