Attention Artists, Where Do I Learn To Draw Furries
15 years ago

Yup, I want to learn how to draw Anthropomorphic characters!
I have very little drawing experience but can make up for it as Im off work for 5 weeks.
I would appreciate anyones input on where to start.
I thought about buying this book below. Has anyone read it? OR downloaded it anywhere?

This site forum has a lot of tutorials for everything from furries, to general anatomy, to photoshop. http://vcl.ctrl-c.liu.se/vclforum/showthread.php3?s=59ab975f67ec9bee6854ef1435b511c4&threadid=15129 It helped me a lot when I was starting out.
Also there is a lot of nice videos on youtube. Most are relating to digital art, but there are a few that use traditional media.
Also might want to check Deviant art. There is a treasure trove of tutorials there. Hope this gives you a little bit to page over (There is a mountain of stuff out there XP).

Tutorials are like exercises to stimulate you in new ways. In a couple of words, Very good.
your best bet is do some stick figures and sausages, the basics of drawing things in general, until you think you have the general sense of proportion (look in a mirror to get ideas... or maybe look at howie, you're a bit tall and skinny XD) generally elbows down to the bottom ribs, hands midway down the thighs. then, look at actual animal pics of the animals you want to draw... like a wolf. at this stage, tracing the wolf head to get an idea of the shape is not a bad thing. once you have an idea of the basic shapes, then throw everything together and you should do fine to start :)
i also find that doing a general line for the direction of the body helps :)
but yeah, study from real life (human proportions and animal features) and you'll do fine :)
i can't find the exact one i was looking for, but these will help

There really is no concrete way to do furry art, but there are the basics. Then there's the finer side of stuff like anatomy, shading, textures, blah blah blah...those will come with time and experience. Just do simple stuff and let your artistic side grow naturally
http://www.tfcsl.com/ac2010 - In there is the recorded show I did at A.C. this year.... and at about the 3hr 40min mark I'm interviewing Beowulf and Mandy / TouchMyBadger... I think what Mandy says about learning how to draw might be helpful for you.
It helped me on drawings yet to be posted.
Is there a specific book that helped you the most? Maybe I'll visit the library too and do the same.
