I prefer romance to action. You typically get stronger characters with romance at least, exceptions being things like Twilight where the characters are as vacant as the flattest action movie's. (Of course that doesn't preclude action films from having strong characters, ie Ghost in the Shell, but romance by definition has to be more character driven)
