In The Mind of The Wolf
I've been thinking about what I could do for some submissions to show all you good (and not-so-good, hehehe) little furs out there, and I'm just kind of running off of little bits of inspiration. I actually re-wrote the lyrics to a song to suit my purposes (Of creative fiction ideas! It's not like I have a plot to take over the world or anything! *hides take-over-the-world planning stuff*) and I plan to post it as soon as I can. However, it feels like I'm running on empty.
WARNING: if you don't know much or anything about The Lion King, you probably won't get the many references I make later on. Just saying.
I know it sounds geeky, but I've always loved The Lion King, and over the past few years, I've acquired a newer, more intense love for the furry tale (and its sequel "Simba's Pride," since I don't really care for 1 1/2). I've recently gotten some inspiration to do a scene similar to "Be Prepared" (THE MOST EPIC SONG IN ALL OF THE ORIGINAL LION KING, AND DON'T YOU FORGET IT!) And "My Lullaby" from Simba's Pride. I just can't seem to work out how I want it. I've got a list of things that the two scenes share in common and some things I'd like in my rendition, but I'm just running out of metaphorical gas somewhere. I don't know what kind of music I would want, and stealing music from someone who's already famous (kind of like I did with my re-write from above) just seems stupid. I want the entirety of my readers to know that my wolf (since the version would be more attuned to a lupine character, hehe) is hurt, angry, and not gonna take it anymore. Yes, I know, he's typical Scar in a wolf's body, but that's where my inspiration came from. I am also contemplating followers/minions/henchmen like with Scar and the hyenas and Zira's pride of the Outsiders.
Anyways, my list that I've come up with so far is as follows:
~ to possibly incorporate the phrase "Bested by no leopard queen, beaten by no lion king" (hehe, like my allusion to the film?)
~ maybe incorporating the phrase "The shadow of the raven spreads its wings wide, the earth now in darkness of my tide" (or something similar)
~ the themes of exile and persecution
~ explaining the (possibly in vain) attempts to forget and forgive past crimes done onto him)
~ the inclusion somewhere in the song/dialogue (song, if I decide to really make this a musical piece, despite the fact that music-making is an all-but-impossible event for me due to lack of equipment and musical talent) of "A symphony of death" (inspired by that very phrase from "My Lullaby")
~ maybe including the phrase, if I could somehow work in where it would fit, "A lust for being bad" (again inspired by "My Lullaby")
~ "the drums of war" should probably be mentioned or referenced to somewhere in there
~ the infamous "mountaintop pan-out" scene at the end (Scar and the hyenas backlit by the moon and the stars, Zira and the Outsiders backlit on the termite mounds by the setting sun, you get what I mean, right?)
~ lighting changes (like when Scar presides over the Nazi-stepping hyenas and such, or Zira's tirade beginning with "The pounding of the drums of war...") and maybe the thought of pyro or something like it (Scar's scenes of the heated volcanic vents) all for dramatic effect
~ the theme or undertone of a drive toward or a return to power, depending on how the storyline would work out
~ the "dual-personality" thing, like Zira had with Kovu and Scar had in the beginning with Simba
~ maybe a scene where the character would be backlit and his eyes would be all aglow
~ and finally, ideas for songs that I could model from: "Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin (epic song, but a bit slow for what I think I would want), "Hallowed Be Thy Name" by Iron Maiden (the original) or the re-make by Cradle of Filth (especially because of the beginning bells), and "The Heart of Everything" by Within Temptation
Anyways, that's just the list for now. I'll most likely add to it more (gods, looking at it even now makes it seem like I'd want to do a cinematic piece, which would be epic if I had even good animating skills, the kind of budget Walt Disney had along with the voice acting crew, and that kind of time), but those are kind of the basics right now. What my real intention was in putting this whole journal together was to see if any of you had thoughts on my ideas or ideas of your own about my fantasy project. If not, the whole thing will probably just fade away, but I just kind of wanted to get it out there so the public would know.
By the way, if you'd like a better reference to the scenes and whatnot that I talk about above, there's a ton of stuff on YouTube, and I have both the "Be Prepared" scene and "My Lullaby" scene in my favorites list, which you can see if you go to my YouTube channel (listed on my user page).
Anyways, if you're still reading this, thank you, I appreciate your devotion. And now...BYE-BYE! *disappears in a burst of thematic flame*
