Adam is the guy who stole the powers from Billy or something (or so my coworkers tell me)
I think this is another case of the "holy fuck cinematic is awesome" -> "oh god what the hell the actual game is shit" games. I'm not impressed at all from the gameplay videos.
I think my favourite detail of the video is harley quinn wearing robin's cape with a hole in the back.
ohh! fucking love shazam that shit gave me GOOSEBUMPS when he screamed it
yea the game is a bit iffy, I absolutely HATE the running animation for DC universe online
have you seen champions? ive played it for 2 months a while ago, and ima go back when i get a new comp, its really easy to solo to the max level but, its still really fun for me hehe
also holy shit i didnt notice that. I love origional voice actors. am I right to assume thats the luke skywalker origional voiceactor joker? :DDDD
Yeah, that bit totally made me grin like a lunatic. It is unfortunate that all the superhero games are kind of shallow, potentially more so with the restrictions of a big license like the DC universe.
Black Adam was a chosen one of Shazam to use the same powers that Captain Marvel (Billy Batson) would recieve later. He went bad in ancient Egypt and then was trapped in some manner in stasis or thrown in time. So he has the powers of Marvel, but is ebil.
Black Adam is the hero Shazam the Wizard had back in the time of Ancient Egypt.
He didn't go away, he was buried and slumbering for the last few thousand years. I think the Wizard tried to strip his powers or something, it didn't work, so he cursed him to sleep.
Anyway, he's a anti-hero or villain depending on when and where you see him in the DC universe. All the power of Captain Marvel with a very jaded, embittered and amoral character.
He's not a new addition to the Captain Marvel family, he just gets brought back into the storyline now and again. I think they even gave him his own comic for a while.
Yeah, but at least the people with the bad design mojo aren't weighing down City of Heroes anymore.
I really feel for the lead design guy that is responsible, but at some point he really should just take a step back and realize that all the problems with the games he's touched are, well, him.
though you could solo your way to max level with your eyes closed, i personally really loved the vastness of travel powers, and the way battles were done compared to city of heroes ;o
i guess thats a opinion though, i didnt like clicking enemy then just kinda idly pressing attacks, champions atleast had a bit more of charging moves and using a few things here and there hehe
but in no way was it a big smashem up
Probably one of the things that annoyed me the most was the travel powers... teleportation in CoX is about the most I'll tolerate for having to click and hit keys to get around... although there was a fun variety they really needed to not make moving so..... obsessively and compulsorily interactive.
Tunnelling, yeah. The teleport was funky, but fun, too.
Basically they just made sure to implement most of the forms of movement from the pen and paper game. I can see how clinging would have been difficult, but I would have been MASSIVELY impressed if they managed that.
oh the amount of spidermans there could have been!
also i wished for new skins for things like, flying disk, i hated it being a machine, i wanted a big energy disk for my character Lieutennant Light hehe
then again i havnt played in months, who knows whats been updated
The original lead design guy who was responsible for making most of the decisions which should have been obvious at the time (at least they were to me) that they were bad decisions, and which each time proved in the end to be .... bad decisions.
He is/was a Champions fan, like I am, and he wanted to put some of that into CoH from the get-go, he just.... doesn't seem to GET it. or MMORPGs. I read his dev blogs and he doesn't seem THAT insane, but it's like he says one thing, adds up 1+1 to get 'blue Q death wallop'. I am eternally mystified why he thinks the things he comes up with are good ideas.
I know i just like fighting a bit more in champs than in coh hehe
BUTTT
the thing i missed SO MUCH was teamups in cox, you fight iwth others youd benefit so much
in champs there wasnt much benefit at all other than to quell the boredom of soloing.
I just love superheroes <:
you think DC universe is gonna be any good?
Traditionally DC doesn't suck as bad as Marvel when it comes to doing their content in forms other than comics. Both have been doing better in movies, but so far their forays outside of those realms have been . . . pitiful.
So... Marvel's online offering exploded and became Champions. I think DC's is likely to be less gamelike and more movielike, more akin to their earlier Superman/Batman video games for consoles with some small adaptions to make it multiplayer.
So, well, no, not really, but I think it'll be a decent first step for them to realize they need to hire a game company with a solid rep to do theirs, and let them have their way with actually writing a game system to suit.
But then, I haven't been part of the beta community for the DC stuff, so I can't really say. I'm just guessing on past performance.
That said, I think I might try it out anyway, because, c'mon.... it's SUPERHEROS.
If the game looked at all like this video, then I'd approve. As it stands you'll only be allowed one powerset, but many different powers within that set. The game will feature Hero vs Villain gameplay. Comparing it to City of Heroes and Champions Online.. It will have the flexibility of neither in your power selection, although it will offer a similar character appearance option. Ultimately, your character will start off as a 'tag along' to the main heroes.
There will be two major starting zones, Metropolis or Gotham city.
Ultimately, I see this game as Marketable, but ultimately forgettable. It will offer almost nothing new.
Check out the gameplay. The animations of the game aren't nearly as nice, at least from what I've seen. And I'm not just talking about the engine they're using to render the models.
That was a beautiful cinematic... Ever see the cinematic for Assassin's Creed: :Brotherhood? I thought they used real actors until I saw the guy in black hair. Then I slapped myself.
now i see this holy fuck
ok im playing, yes yes
also WHOS THAT WITH SHAZAMS POWERS? THATS NOT SHAZAM
billy barter or something is shazam, whos adam? D:

i mean, it was the most annoying thing ever when your digging and you cant go up cliff faces or buildings but
IT WAS SO COOOOOOOOOL ;O;

It's a perfect medium for the job!
