Always, when the weather's right,
You sun yourself out in the grass.
From morning till the chilly night,
You watch the other men walk past.
But never seem to see me there,
Hoping just to catch your eye,
Struggling with my savoir-faire,
To win a nod, your smile my prize.
I've tried to look book smart and keen;
I've tried to act so cool and wise.
I've bought new clothes- en vogue and clean,
But never have I caught your eye.
'Twas when I felt so down and gray,
And sadness made my thoughts turn grim.
I found him staring out my way,
Just wishing I would look at him.
