Thank you posting this! I have trouble with them too. They're too...stiff. Like, not moving and such. Though, a bra does constrict that movement a bit.

I love that blog. And yes, some of the anatomy on this site drives me crazy too.

Hence why I avoid drawing them. They are freaking hard to deal with, and the rest of the body is still a challenge for me!!! I'll set them on the "to do" rack in my studies. Horrible pun, I know.

Nice resource though, helps simplify some of the challenges of drawing them. Although probably the best cure would be to do live figure drawing, but who does that these days? :P

But seriously, same here. I've only been able to do a couple of weeks of training with nude figures. Miss it so much, i went through so many breakthroughs while doing that training. Pictures aren't the same at all in that sort of study. :<

Check out if your local community college or a local art college around you has a free drawing clinic. My school does that and we have free figure drawing on saturdays.

Damn I wish they had that where I am... One place requires you enroll, the other charges a fee. Not a hefty fee, but enough that it deters me from doing it regularly... Where the heck is that school?

It's College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI. :P It's a club that's associated with the school that offers it.

Ever read the comic/autobiography Persepolis? She talks about how when she and her peers had to do figure drawing with women in fully covering burkas (do to strict islamic prevalence over their schools), they would meet in private and draw each other in order to satisfy that artistic study need. Just a thought conjured up by this mini-conversation.

I hate seeing people draw boobs and draw the nipples too big or too small, or forward or the boobs ballooned up like they have helium in them. :U

I can always tell a male* from a female artist if the boobs don't look freakish and unnatural. Even when it's a lesbian artist drawing what they consider sexy, the boobs still look natural. I guess it's because even if you like boobs and are female, it's painful to imagine breasts in the ways a lot of guys draw them. Bizarre beachballs just glued to a chest or deformed in uncomfortable ways.

Then again maybe that argument is moot since there's a LOT of guy artists here who can't seem to draw dicks and balls either, and yet they see those in the mirror all the time too.

Don't even get me started on the absolutely ludicrous vaginas some of these furries have. The belly button isn't the clit, folks.

If people draw a hole in them, they're drawing the nipple's duct. You know, for lactation. Because women do that.

Now the size of the hole is a different story entirely.

I've never seen them with one big duct in the middle, for as far as I know it's multiple smaller ducts spread out more evenly. But yeah, what I meant is that it's definitely not a giant hole.

Milk doesn't come from a duct. There are actually tiny pores all around the nipple that secrete the lactation. Most men seem to think nipples have a huge hole. If you see a breast with holey nips, those are actually "inverted" nipples, which means those women will probably never be able to breastfeed.

It amazes me how many /female/ artists can't draw boobs for shit. I mean..theoretically, don't they have their own living reference right there? Barnacle-looking and hard-edged/oblong nipples too. Yuck!

Good find, I love that they show the squash and stretch of them as well. I imagine that would be useful for folks who lack their own boobs for textural reference XD
