RMFC Awesome or what!?

What did you guys think of it all?
Need help finding someone you met at rmfc here on FA?
Met a lot of cool furs! And I couldn't keep myself out of the dealers room X3
Wish I could have been there longer though.

i had a blast, even though i could only go on Sunday. i spent most of my time in the art room, bugging the dealers once every ten minutes. i'm surprised some of them didnt snap and kill me when i came around for the tenth time. i got to meet a whole bunch of furrs, and didnt write down contact info. usually i remember stuff like that, but when i got home, i was exhausted, and completely forgot the names of everyone i met.
it was awesome getting to talk to Dark Natasha. she's a very nice person, and an astounding artist. as much as i love blotch, Natasha is without a doubt my new favorite artist ^^
I left the hotel at 6:00 flat broke, but with two commissions in hand, a signed print from Natasha and a print from Heather Burton. Talk about nerd out x3
On the whole, it wasn't a very good convention and I can sadly not count on my hands due to lack of fingers the amount of people who are now refusing to attend next year. Even some who have worked staff and earned free attendance.
However, not by far was it the worst convention I have ever attended and since I've had one very awesome RMFC and now one really poor RMFC I will probably give it a go if I can next year. I'd have to think on that one.
This is just one wolf's opinion, though, I'm not speaking for everyone and decided to skip making a convention report so as not to press my opinion onto my 3,000+ watchers. Here, though, I'll voice it because the journal is asking.
I want my money back, honestly.
Meeting new people was awesome, yes. Hanging with friends was awesome, yes.
I attended 2 con events. Otherwise everything seemed so disorganized and there was several times where things were just downright boring. The game room didn't really have much to offer and was frequently empty. And even though I liked the proximity of restaurants and shops, there wasn't a whole lot to do...Honestly, friends and I spent more time goofing off and having fun at the Walmart.
Sadly...I won't be coming back.
Seemed like everyone (who wasn't in their room parties I guess) out and about was freaking depressed or tired.
Couldn't make Friday cuz of work, dropped in Saturday all day, and didn't bother to spend the 20 bucks to go back Sunday :/
I'd go back next year, if I get to know some more people.
I had fun suiting though we got yelled at for suiting in the lobby because it wasn't 'con space'. What? Since when.
And I didn't like that it was so far away from downtown.
All in all I'll probably only go again for a single day in the future.
Did everyone meet the guy in the green hoodie? what a great guy.
I plan to return next year, mainly because it's close to home and to see Bucktown Tiger again (I met him in person at Furry Fiesta this year.) I am even considering signing up as a volunteer.
I've not attended many cons, and knew it was a small con, but didn't expect it to be that small.
The dealers den was nice but crowded, and I really wanted to look around more but every time I stopped to just look at what was on a table someone usually started the high pressure sale. WE TAKE CREDIT CARDS!!! NO NEED TO GO TO THE ATM! BUY! BUY! BUY! I know you make your living on this stuff, but give me a second to at least look at the cover, the back of the book, or your sample art before making me feel like I am on a used car lot. Even while getting a book signed by an author I was getting recommendations of things I should be buying. Due to this, I spent very little time in there, and didn't buy anything even though there were a few items I was considering before heading in.
I saw two things at the art show I wouldn't have minded bidding on, but I couldn't come back on Sunday so I bid on nothing.
I didn't really know anyone else who was attending, so my social interactions were limited and those I talked to briefly didn't really seem interested in chatting with strangers. I had a beer in the sports bar, hung out in the lobby for awhile and then went home.
That was my second con, but I also brought a mundane friend for the first time, promising an exciting event. I was watching "Yiff In Hell" last night and realized something... we are a bit shy. The large breaks between events were, to be blunt, awful. Maybe for next year, if there could be some sort of newbie net, so that new attendees could find someone to chat with, then that may help the boredom? or somehow promote conversation between groups? I found that at RCFM there was always someone who I didn't know at all to just chat with, even though it was a much smaller event. There are so many people there, you're bound to find someone to talk to, but everyone's just a little too shy to begin conversation.
It was that bad, eh?
However, if my dad hadn't kept me so busy on Saturday, I would have gone for two days and it would have been awesome.
It was a lot better then last year. It is a very small con, but that gives a person a few good things, and a few bad... I suppose.
RMFC 2009: recap- panels were set at certain times, and they were either canceled, or moved, and you didn't know until it was too late. not many suiters, and no game room to have fun in. Very little panels at all, dances were okay.
RMFC 2010: recap- panels set at the times actually happened, none got canceled or moved.. a few were impromptu but, it happens. its still a growing con. A lot more suiters came out, and there was lots of downtime to go grab snacks, food, or rest.
I have been to a big con, and all you have time to do is run from panel to panel to panel, hoping you get there in time for each one, or make a hard decision about which panel to attend because two are happening at the same time that you want to attend... and then hope that you can make it in time to suit for a half hour, only to run over to the dealers den before it closes. Not to mention you don't have time to run out and grab food, because you might miss something you want to see or attend!
If you ask me, big cons are fun, and so are the small ones. It may be disorganized, there may have been a bit of drama and drinking, and maybe the dealers den wasn't all that big... but give it time. I am sure next year will be even better!!
For those of you who had fun... AWESOME! I hope my fuzzy butt gave you a hug when I was in suit.
For those of you who didn't... sorry it wasn't your kind of con.. everyone has their own opinion. =]
But I'm sure there will be more events packed in next year.
I met a lot of cool new people, got kicked out of the pool because my bathing suit was "too revealing", and even converted a friend into a furry <3
ive gone to NDK and wasabi con plenty of times, so i was definately expecting a bigger turnout, and i was dissapointed at ow few people turned up. especially cause there wasnt very many suiters....
im going again next year, but in the hopes that itll be a little bigger by then, and the panels and events will be better. the only event i was actually interested in was the dances.
I couldnt even go saturday, due to the fact i was crippled on the bathroom floor, curled up in pain and had to go to the ER. turned out i had kidney stones.
i went saturday night, but i ended up missing the furry parade and all the other stuff saturday during the day.
i hope next year is better overall 8(
