And what's with all of this 3-D crap?
Fail!
Last movie I saw was a remake of a comic strip called Iron Man from Marvel Comics which isn't a very creative idea since they are stealing Marvel's plots.
If somebody has an inking of creativity in Hollywood they must've taken a bus or gotten run over by a bus full of writers who don't deserve to have a pen in their hand.
Everything is remake or some lame title crap nobody in their right mind wants to go see.
Avatar was one thing, Bolt was another, But all of this crap I see besides Disney just floors me at how truly mundane it really is.
What I see on TV is more entertaining then what I see in the movies.
I heartily believe that a good idea does NOT have to be your own. If they can take a book or comic and turn it into a movie, hell yeah. Just make sure you have writers of decent caliber scripting the transition. Case in point : Ghost Rider...my fave Super Hero and they not only vomited up the script, but gave the controls of the special effects and graphics to a quadriplegic.
As for 3D, very few movies benefit from 3D. Having characters that pop out at you isn't worth the extra money if the scenes don't incorporate you into them. Something lashing out at you (seemingly) making you jump back or raise an arm instinctively, YES, that's a damn good use of 3D.
Only movie I really enjoyed having a 3D version was How to Train your Dragon.
Granted 3-D is an awesome idea but I think it's been put into overkill when it comes to the amount they are using it now.
3-D just freaks the hell out of me and I won't be going to see a 3-D movie because it is just too scary for me to take.
The previews on TV are enough.
I most certainly agree with you in terms of if you are going to take an idea of an author don't piss everybody off with doing a puke job with the plot.
Bram Stoker's Dracula is the best novel themed movie I have seen because it follows to the red letter what Bram Stoker himself wanted the book to come across as.
Where The Wild Things Are was another great book turned into a great movie for fans of the book like me.
I can't really remember all the book themed movies I've seen but those two are the most vivid and Shutter Island as well.
All of those had great themes and followed their plots really well.
Other than that.. It's just been a bunch of remade garbage almost like what CN (Cartoon Network) has become though I am so grateful somebody was smart about Pink Panther and Pals
God rest anybody's soul who would fuck with a masterpiece like that!
