NaNo Novel: Here Falls The Thunder
So, I heard that Dr. Laura will be quitting her radio show at the end of year after she hot into some hot water for using the N-word on her radio show. It was in response to the fact that a black woman felt offended that her white husband and his friends used the word. Dr. Laura responded by commenting on how you could turn on HBO and see black people using the word when talking to each other, and she proceeded to say the word 'nigger' repeatedly.
She's quitting radio because she said she's sick and tired of people who try to shut others down over whenever they hear anything they don't like.
But she did bring up an interesting point: Why is it black people are free to use the word on each other at will, often repeatedly, and it's practically a sign of affection. But if anyone else of a lighter skin-tone uses it, it's racism of the highest order?
And before anyone brings this up, no, I do not consider 'nigga' and 'nigger' to be two different words. The former is simply a sloppy way of pronouncing/speaking the latter. That's really all there is to it.
Thoughts?

But again, humankind is already stupid.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reclaimed_word has a reasonably good overview of this concept.
My thoughts when I heard that story? . o O (This kid had a lot of balls asking something like that... especially in THAT way.)
Me, honestly, I stay out of this kind of stuff, because I have friends of all races, creeds, etc., and I like keeping my friendships as friendships, not destroying them over touchy debates, especially extra touchy ones such as these.
....Cracka-ass nigga!
A black person calling another black person 'nigger' is just as offensive as a white person using it. If they have the regional urban accent, a white person using 'nigga' is generally acceptable (important to note, if they don't have the urban accent they are perceived as being patronizing). This also goes for 'son' and 'homeboy/homie.'
Also important, use of 'nigga' is somewhat of an urban phenomenon. While still used, it's not quite as accepted in the Deep South or the suburbs, especially among the older generations.
