Today at work I overheard a man making a phone call, one of our residents, to the church...He was asking if a minister could come and give his wife her Last Rites at the end of the day. She hasn't been doing well for a while now. She woke up this morning and she doesn't remember him...she's stopped eating... I didn't talk to him, but I could feel his sadness and off and on throughout the day I've cried for him. I also ended up delivering a room tray for his wife later in the day. You could see the desperation and sadness in his face, the wetness of his eyes. A man who was losing the one thing he loved most in his life. I almost cried right in front of him, but I told him to take care and left, tears streaming down my face as I walked down the hall. I feel for this man, whom I've never known or talked to. It's strange, but it's made me realize how much sadness there is in the world...and think about the things that I have that I am thankful for.

I'm thankful:
- For my family, who care so very much for me.
- For friends, even though I've never had many.
- For my job. It's not the best, but it's bearable.
- For the opportunity I had to love someone and be loved in return, even though it is now over and I'm grieving.
- For the life I've been blessed with, even though things haven't always worked out the way I wanted. I believe the Lord will guide my path in life. I realize that we aren't put through trials to destroy or ruin us, but that they exist to build and shape our character and integrity.

This is very generalized. I could go into so much more detail, there are a lot more things in specific that I'm thankful for and why, but I won't. I've got things to do! =P
