Glad you enjoyed it. I had a professor who always talked about the idea of reaching maturity was some where around 25, and it makes sense. When I look back at my life I really didn't come into my own till about 24.

18 just doesn't make sense. Sure you're out of highschool and most generally have some job experience, but those twelve or so years mean close to diddly-dick in the real world. At least let them get some real life experience post-highschool, let alone go to college. Plus, why the hell can you (at least in the U.S.) join the army, smoke, pay taxes and gamble when you're 18, but drinking is out of the question?

Your right. 18 has never fully made sense, but I suppose you have to start sometime? I was happy to be on my own at 18. It was difficult and it certainly took a while to adjust but I was lucky to have family to support me. Not everyone has that.

Yeah its the age old question of why alcohol isn't legal to people as young as eighteen is strange. Most other countries usually keep the legal age for smoking and drinking etc., at the same age. In Japan, for example, the legal age to do anything I believe is 22.

In America we like to do things different.

In Romania kids can drink at 16!

LOL! I believe drinking beer in Germany is allowed when your 16, but not other liquor.

Beer is culturally relevant in Germany, from what I hear, thus its alcohol laws are looser than those of the U.S. Most don't even drink to get drunk over there.

I had a roommate from Germany so this isn't news to me. You know what was funny though. Trying to explain the definition "binge" to him. He had no clue. When I explained it he looked at me like i was crazy. While they still may have alcohol related issues like Americas, there is a totally different outlook on alcohol.

Hmm, that is interesting. Kinda' funny because they keep on trying to quantify stuff that seem rather readily obvious if you take a look around at the twenty somethings. I'm a twenty something, myself, and I have to say that that sounds kinda' true.

It is but now people are actually saying it. Its being looked into as another facet in our development from children to adults.

It's pretty interesting. I wonder if this meas that they have to push the drinking age to thirty. Anyhow, do you remember where you found this article?
