Satoshi Kon's Last Words...

...an unofficial translation has been posted here.
It's saddening to hear how little time it took his condition to deteriorate, but the most touching thing, for me, was reading about how much he loved his family:
Thank you, Father, Mother. I am so happy that I was born into this world as the child of the both of you. My heart is full of memories and gratitude. Happiness itself is important, but I am so grateful that you taught me to appreciate happiness.
Well spoken, sir. Well spoken indeed.

I have Paprika but never watched it, I think I probably should!
I think what I love best about Satoshi Kon's words is how he could accept death with such grace. It reminds me very much of a friend of mine who ended up dying of kidney failure (we were pretty surprised when we learned just how old she was; a 52-year-old woman actively participating in internet fandom isn't something you'd normally expect) who was also fairly tranquil about it, because she'd already taken care of all the things she needed to.
This makes me want to give my family a huge hug the next time I see them. ;_;
