"The day Microsoft makes something that doesn’t suck is the day they start making vacuum cleaners."
In any matter, good to see that you're alive.
Indeed, I still appear to have a pulse. It's rather persistent, but the doctors insist that that's normal.
How are ya?
Hmm...as for the question...I have no way of adequately answering that, so let's just say I've had my ups and downs as per usual with a bit more downs than ups.
And you?
Not quite up, not quite down, but neither in-between nor both; just suspended in a void, unaffected by the flow of time, huh? At least there's some predictability and stability in such a state, I guess.
Every choice, answer and path in life comes with costs, a toll, a downside. There is no action to be taken that would result in endless benefits.
If it weren't for the Dark Ages we'd probably have warp drive and be exploring the galaxy by now. XD
That's true, though I personally would prefer some form of progress, even with any repercussions it might carry, to stagnation. At least, intellectually speaking. I think part of me, purely on the emotional level, fears progress, because of its unstable nature.
If it weren't for the Dark Ages...I wonder just how much more advanced we would really be and if the darkness those times brought would actually be better than some of the alternatives had we continued to grow...We may never know. It could be that something far worse may have happened, a fall in knowledge far greater, but later on. In any case, no point worrying about alternate timeline threads running in parallel with our own.
Possibly, it is in our nature to fear the unknown and to crave security/stability. "A step in any direction, even if backwards, can be progress so long as we learn something from the regression." That which our mind understands on the conscious level and that which the mind feels on the subconscious level are two different things however and we can never be certain which will claim victory over the other in our decisions.
